(Dartmouth, Massachusetts, United States – The Greek Festival in Dartmouth, Massachusetts is scheduled to take place from September 16, 2016 to September 18, 2016 at the grounds of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church at 186 Cross Road in Dartmouth. As the festival flyer says, this is a great chance for people to, “Be Greek for a day!” The festival is a great opportunity for people to get together and celebrate the Greek culture by eating the food, listening to Greek music, and participating in the traditional Greek dances. There will also be some activities for the kids as well as a marketplace where people can buy Greek goods and handicrafts.
Besides being able to dance the Greek dances yourself, there will also be demonstrations by a Greek dance troupe. Here’s what the official Facebook page for the festival had to say about the dance troupe:
We are excited to welcome the Greek Pride of Rhode Island dance troupe to our festival again this year. They will performing on the Sunday of our festival (September 18th) at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Greek dancing will also occur throughout the weekend led by our parishioners.
Also, because the food is a real highlight for people, festival volunteers have been making their preparations for the past several months. According to the festival Facebook page, they will be making some updates to the menu and will release the changes soon. Overall, guests can expect a delicious lineup of all the standard fare, such as souvlaki, lamb, and gyros, as well as Greek desserts.
Festival hours are from 5 PM – 10 PM on Friday, September 16, 2016, 11 AM from 10 PM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 and 11 AM to 5 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Parking and admission are both free. There will also be a chance to take church tours throughout the weekend to see the inside of the church as well as ask any question you might have about the Orthodox faith.
