(Manchester, New Hampshire, United States) – The Glendi Greek Festival at the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester, New Hampshire on Hanover Street is scheduled to take place from September 16, 2016 to September 18, 2016 on the grounds of the cathedral. This is an annual event and visitors of past years have been leaving messages on the event Facebook page saying how much they’re looking forward to it this year. This event offers a great way for people in the community to get together to celebrate the Greek culture. In fact, festival volunteers have been preparing for this festival for several months in order to insure the success of the event. This is a chance for people to get together and eat Greek food, listen to music, and experience traditional Greek dancing.
Of course, for most festival guests, the real highlight is the food being offered. People will have a chance to eat traditional cuisine such as lamb, souvlaki, dolmades, gyros, and more. There will also be other dishes, such as dolmades and spanakopita to sample, as well as Greek salad. There are also traditional desserts like baklava and koulourakia available to eat at the festival and also to purchase. Be sure to buy enough so that you can take some home! People have a choice when ordering their food to eat at the festival or take it home to enjoy later. Some people do both.
In addition to the food, Greek music, and dancing, there will also be a marketplace where people can buy traditional Greek goods and handicrafts. There are also activities for the kids and there is also a raffle. Parking and admission are both free but all proceeds will benefit the cathedral. Church tours are also on the schedule so people can see the inside of the church.
