(Darlington, Maryland, United States) – The Harford County, Maryland Greek Festival is taking place this weekend on the grounds of the John Carroll School, which is located in Bel Air. The festival is being held by the Saints Mary Magdalene and Markalla Greek Orthodox Church located in Darlington, Maryland. Rather than hold the festival on the grounds of the church, it is being held on grounds that can better accommodate the expected crowds. The festival is taking place from June 3, 2016 to June 5, 2016. The festival is going on today, June 4, from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Sunday, June 5, from 12:30 PM to 7 PM. The John Carroll School is located at 703 East Churchville Road in Bel Air, Maryland. There is no admission fee and parking is also free.
At this festival, visitors have a chance to experience the Greek culture without actually visiting Greece! They will have the opportunity to eat delicious Greek foods, listen to Greek music, dance traditional dances, and even do some shopping! There will also be dancing demonstrations put on by local Greek dance troupes. There will also be some entertainment for the kids.
Every part of the festival is designed to give people an overview of the Greek culture while encourage them to have a good time. The highlight for many, however, is the Greek food! Menu items include popular dishes such as gyros, dolmades, and spanakopita as well as Greek desserts like baklava. People can also wash their meal down with beer, wine, coffee, and Greek spirits.
Festival volunteers have been working hard over the course of the past few months in order to prepare for this event. The festival also gives the Saints Mary Magdalene and Markalla Greek Orthodox Church parish a chance to raise some money will helping its visitors have a good time. The church will use the proceeds to help them meet their daily expenses.
