National Hellenic Society Heritage Weekend & Classic to Take Place October 6-9, 2016

heritage-weekend-classic(Las Vegas, Nevada, United States) – The 2016 Heritage Weekend & Classic, which is organized by the National Hellenic Society, is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from October 6, 2016 to October 9, 2016. This is an event that brings the Greek community together from all over the United States in celebration of their shared heritage.

According to the official page for the event, “Heritage Weekend & Classic is a celebration of Hellenic heritage with NHS’ members and guests in a relaxed and luxurious setting amidst a host of fun, entertaining, and inspiring activities and programs.  This year’s Heritage Weekend is shaping up to be the best ever–a great time guaranteed and something for everyone in the family!”

There are several events planned for the duration of the event. These include a tennis tournament, the Telly Savalas Memorial Golf Classic, a hike in the Red Rock Canyon, exotic car racing, tours, and more. Thanos Petrelis, a top singer in Greece, will be providing the celebrity entertainment.  There will also be celebrity entertainment, a glendi, and an awards gala.

There are also a few individuals who will be honored this year during the event. The individuals being honored include John Aniston, an actor, Kary Antholis, an executive at HBO and a producer who won an Academy Award, and George Behrakis, a top business leader. There will also be other top Greek-Americans who will be speaking throughout the event, including Michael Karzis, a producer at 60 Minutes, and James Anastos Daopoulos an official and supervisor at the NFL.

This event is in synch with the mission of the National Hellenic Society. According to the website, the mission is to, “create a lasting network of Greek Americans that will preserve our heritage through the sponsorship and initiation of programs that support our Hellenic culture; benefit our members and their families; and honor our ancestors.”
