DEKA Awards Given to 10 Greek-Canadians in Montreal

(Montreal, Canada) – The award ceremony for the DEKA awards, which are given to exemplary business owners of Greek origin, has just taken place. Ten Greek business owners in Montreal, Canada, were just given their wards at the special banquet. The Hellenic Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal are designed to give recognition to Greek business owners who are the best at what they do. They have also been shown to have a positive contribution to the Greater Montreal area.

According to the official website of the Hellenic Board of Trade Metropolitan Montreal, there were ten categories with one winner per category. Here is a look at the 2017 DEKA award winners:

  • Businesswoman of the Year Chris-Ann Nakis
  • Community Service Award – Dr. Peter Limniatis
  • Entrepreneur of the Year – Jim Alexopoulos-Stanex
  • Personality of the Year – John Limniatis
  • Manufacturing & Processing Award – Sunbec
  • Retail Industry Award – Supermarche PA
  • Young Entrepreneurs of the Year – Harry Drakopoulos & Angelo Destounis – Off the Rock
  • Distribution Award – Miron Food Group
  • Restaurant Innovation Award – RD3 Restaurant Group
  • President’s Award – Athonopoulos Group

During the ceremony, the President of the Hellenic Board of Trade, John Charalampopoulos, gave a speech talking about how important the HBOT is and the DEKA awards they give out each year. He said, “The Deka Gala is a special night for our business community as we pay tribute to companies and individuals of Greek origin who have excelled and contributed to the enrichment of the greater Montreal area.” Concerning the HBOT, he also said, “The Hellenic Board of Trade is a great organization that would not be as dynamic as it is today without the active involvement of all of you.”

This year, the bard weeded through nearly sixty nominations before settling on the ten winners who were given their awards during the banquet. He said, “We received over 55 nominations that formed part of the selection process.”
