(London, Ontario, Canada) – The Taste of Greece event in London, Ontario in Canada is scheduled to take place over the long weekend for Victoria Day The event, which takes place roughly every year, will feature top wines from Greece. The event is organized to draw attention to the wine regions of Greece. The Greeks have been producing wine since ancient times, but they are only now receiving worldwide recognition and attention. The Taste of Greece event is designed to change all that.
The event has also just received a grant of 15,000 Canadian Dollars, which will be used to insure that the event is successfully hosted. The money will be used to insure that the event will be successful. This is one of the events that the Canada Ministry of Tourism and Culture sponsors and each year, people from all over the region attend. The Taste of Greece event also attracts tourism into the region.
Over the course of the three days, the event will focus on showcasing Greek food and other products, offer wine samplings, and showcase other parts of the Greek culture. There will also be Greek music and dancing. Since there is a large Greek population in Ontario and throughout the rest of Canada, this event will also offer the Greek diaspora in Canada a chance to share their culture with others.
Victoria Day this year falls on May 22, 2017. The event will be held over that long weekend. The Taste of Greece is one of the almost fifty events that the Canada Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport helps support. Eleanor McMahon, a representative for the Ministry, has said, “Through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, our government is supporting a variety of exciting events across the province that showcases our art, culture and heritage.”
