Hey nESo,
Thanks for your message, you never know maybe one day I will!
I agree though... here are some famous quotes by Greek philosophers "Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants" Epicurus 341 - 270 BC, or another by Democritus 460 - 370 BC "By desiring little, a poor man makes himself rich", these are very true!
Many of the millionaires started with nothing... there are also other articles about being Greek and Greek communities around the world. The magazine is inspirational and profiles members with accounts to there rise to success.
The magazine is published to inspire young Greeks around the world... we are proud to be Greek and want to spread the word!
re pedia k ti me niazi pios mlks ehi toso hrima...??? mipos tha mou dosi kana ekatomirio tzampe, mono giati tou evgala to onoma? kopste tis mlkies.. ehoume ala provlimata stin ellada.. kato me aftin tin kolo kivernisi ND o kosmos arhise na pinai k ta arhidia ta vazoune sti tzepi tous... min po onomata..;) kyrie prothipourge...!
Ulysses... I agree to some extent. Everyone has an opinion and you'll find many of the people profiled in the magazine have contributed to the victims of the fires, marine life and other charities in Greece. Some wealthy people like to hide behind their fortunes, but you'll also find that a few that are very generous, these being mainly Greeks that reside in the US, UK & Australia. Probably because they are patriotic and proud to be Greek.
You shouldn't view this as a negative thing or take it too seriously, maybe by exposing a few more of these people with excess wealth they will be forced to help other charitable causes...!

Sir Reo (Argeros) Stakis, The Hotel and Casino Tycoon born in Cyprus in 1913 and aged 14 he started selling his mother's handmade lace door-to-door and gradually headed north, settling in Glasgow. He opened his first and Glasgow's first Greek restaurant The Acropolis and soon acquired a chain of various restaurants and stake houses.
Stakis opened Scotland's first casino, the Chevalier, in 1964 and gradually added several other casinos to the Stakis group.
He was knighted in 1988. By that time Stakis' son Andros had taken over the business and in difficult trading conditions, some poor decisions brought the company close to bankruptcy. However, new management brought renewed profitability and Stakis was able to sell his empire to the Hilton Group for £1.2 billion in 1999.
He married Annitsa Petropoulos in 1946, and they had two sons and four daughters.
Stakis was a generous benefactor to the Greek Orthodox church in Glasgow, buying both their first church in the city in 1953 and their Cathedral of St Luke the Evangelist in 1960.
Stakis died in Stirling on 28 August, 2001. He is buried in Dunblane Cemetery.
Canadian journalist Jack Webster wrote his biography Stakis: The Reo Stakis Story.
His eldest daughter Ridi now plans to revive her fathers empire and legacy.
Thats a nice tribute to sir Stakis but you forgot to mention that he actually got started by stealing items from the church in Kato Dhrys which is a well known fact. Also he was pro British & anti Hellenic in the national struggle for enosis 1955-59 & was a benefactor to the church in an attempt to redeem himself.
Its also a bit ironic that he started by looting our church to start a gambling empire which ìs frowned upon by the church then was then a benefactor to the church with money made from gambling.
Besides the fact that he was a traitor to his own people.
You obviously know the story well Marcos. Your quite right theres alot about "sir Stakis" I forgot to mention.
I know the family personaly and theres alot of rumors i've heard about how he started, Nothing would surprise me, My papou was one of the many greeks who worked for him and was exploited.
There is also rumors of underworld connections.
I haven't got a very good opinion of sir Stakis & would be surprised if he didn't have underworld links when he was alive. I know a lot of people from Pano Lefkara, Kato Lefkara & Kato Dhrys & they are not so quick to claim their famous son. Which as you know is not a good sign because all Greek towns & villages love to have a famous son to brag about. USUALLY.
