Connecting Greeks to the Hellenic community around the world!

Do ppl feel that Australia is isolated from the rest of the world? Does anybody know we exist?

I guess a lot of people are ignorant about Australia, thinking we're all living in the bush like on Crocodile Dundee, with kangaroos as pets and all that stereotypical crap.
That's pretty frustrating.
Isolation is possibly the contributing factor to all of it, and there's really not that much we can do about it in the end.

What ?! You all don't have kangaroos on a leash?! ;) Joking,..joking!! Well I could certainly fall under the ignorant umbrella - as far as never traveled to Australia - but I don't think you are isolated. The world has become a smaller place with technology.
Marko, when you ask if anybody knows "you" exist, do you mean Australia or Greek-Australians? As Australia, I don't think that's a problem... I'm not sure about as Greek-Australians. I know there's a huge community - but do you guys promote the Hellenic culture there? There is always something that can be done!!

Hi Katerina
Our Hellenic culture is well promoted even the aboriginals are dancing to Zorba the Greek.

Also we dont need to keep the kangaroos on a leash anymore they have adopted our way of life (Hellenic way)

even isolated , still not less beautiful and exotic!! we cannot approach easily but thats the beauty that u can have something we cannot reach it easily.. from the Outback to any seashore and any beach to the valleys , australia stands there to explore its treasures .. from opal to gold , the koalas to kangaroos ,still alot more to find out about the remote *small planet*... so isolated or not its still very unique ..
