    Street corn like in Greece?

It will never taste exactly the same unless your in Greece. The corn itself in Greece is tougher and less milky so no matter how you prepare it, the consistency and taste is a little different. My mother's family freezes corn for her during the peak season (August September) so when she goes in...

Cooking in the Greek Diaspora in Australia

I'm from the US, not Australia, but I have the same observations. I think being from the Diaspora our parents and grandparents had to adapt with the ingredients that were available (an inexpensive) here. My parents used to tell me they would go to the fish market and ask for the heads, since...

    Grilling Greek Food Indoors

I use my indoor grill all the time in the winter! They key for me is to always reserve some marinade to pour over the meat, while it's hot, right off the grill. It helps supplement some of the flavor that you get from a real grill. I recently used it to make a gyro recipe from the cookbook I...

Pagotinia (little ice creams) are a must try in Greece

Use fresh Greek chamomile tea to help you sleep before bed

Fresh Chamomile is the best and helps with sleeps, relaxation and stress I find. But for the best result you need to boil and strain it, steeping in boiled water doesn't have the same effect.

    Vasilopita - Cake or Tsoureki?

I recently had a debate with a few Greek friends on what a traditional New Years Tsoureki is. My mother always made a tsoureki with the year on it, as do many other's I know. I have friends who make an orange zest cake with powdered sugar...and others that say it doesn't matter as long as it's...
