Tips for taking taxis in Athens!

I've had some tricky experiences in taxis in Greece until I found a driver I can rely on. I call him whenever I am in Greece and I trust that his rates are fair and he won't overcharge.

Which area of Greece has the best seafood?

I haven't noticed a difference and I have had great seafood all over Greece. As long as it's fresh, I am happy!

Check out this beautiful traditional Greek music and dance in Kefalonia

This is one of my favorite ultra tradition Greek songs. My family claps at the "Maria" part... Love the traditional clothing, too!

Greece Marks International Museum Day with Free Admission!👍

Agreed, would be fun to hit all the museums in cities like Athens during Free Day! I unfortunately am not in Greece yet - not for another months. The Free Day is today (Wednesday the 18th) right?

Did you know about Érechthéion, the temple right beside the acropolis?

Thanks for sharing this. It's easy to think that the Parthenon is the only thing worth visiting at the Acropolis, but there's actually a lot more there that shouldn't be ignored.

What part of Athens is not worth visiting?

I agree, each time I go I get something different out of it. Also, there's too much to see in one day if you really want to do it justice. I could spend two days in the museum alone!

What part of Athens is not worth visiting?

For me, my answer will depend on if it's your first time there or not. At least once, one has to see the Acropolis (Parthenon, etc). However, if you've already seen it there is no point to do it again unless you really love it. There's so much more to see in the city.

Glyfada is the best getaway if you are staying in Athens

Kali Mera! Really enjoyed hearing your experiences of this area of Greece. I have found the hospitality in Greece to be exceptional too, but as someone who is of Greek origin, it is nice to hear that people from other countries have had the same experiences. That's crazy that you experienced the...

Advice: Don't visit Athens in August!

So true, in Greece the AC is either "broken", or it doesn't exist!

My advice is to visit the Acropolis in the early morning or late afternoon

It really does get too hot, especially in July and August. Parthenon should be visited early in the day. There are some nice restaurants in the Plaka. Many of those have shade - if you can get out of the sun you can enjoy those restaurants no matter what time of day it is.

List of best museums in Athens

Yes to all of these. I love the National Archaeological Museum - it is one of my favorite places because there are a ton of artifacts here.

Advice: Don't visit Athens in August!

So true - which reminds me, one can always visit the seacoast areas that are near Athens, like Glyfada, to get a bit of a break from the heat. It's also nice if you end up staying in a hotel that has a pool. It seems that hardly anyone has air conditioning in that city, so it isn't like...

Quiet vibes at Porto Rafti beach

This beach is just what you would expect! It is beautiful and quiet, and it is a great little escape when you want to get away from the bustle of the city.

Advice: Don't visit Athens in August!

Been there, done that. It is sooo hot I don't remember much of that particular trip. The only redeeming quality of it is that if you go during the first two weeks, you might find that the city is quieter than usual since many Greeks have taken time off from their jobs, and have dispersed...

Glyfada is the best getaway if you are staying in Athens

I totally agree. The area is beautiful, and there are also some great clubs here. There was a time when this was where many of Greece's celebrities lived. I am not sure this is still the case, but it was at one time. The beaches are relaxing and there are amazing views, too,
