    Weather in October in kefelonia

It can be variable and certainly cooler in the evening even on a sunny day - cardigan or fleece rather than just a tee shirt. Last year we were swimming in the sea on 31st October but then a week later we were having constant rain. It is a beautiful time of year to visit and explore the island...

Are there many earthquakes in Kefalonia?

Hi Earthquakes are not uncommon on the island but in the main are low level and not necessarily felt across the whole island. Obviously the earthquake in 1953 flattened 85% of the island but as a result of this the island has rigorous requirements for all buildings to be anti seismic. The...

Have you been to De Bosset Bridge in Argostoli, Kefalonia?

Let me know when you are in Argostoli and if we are there (we live there and UK) I will give you a guided tour - I am a photographer so can give you some good vantage points :)

Are most of the tavernas open in Argostoli?

We have been in Argostoli for 3 months and returned to UK about 2 weeks ago. Almost every restaurant and cafe was open although a few had literally done so in the last week that we were there. Sadly there a few who haven't weathered the storm financially and have not reopened. Most of the...

What is the best hotel to stay at near the Athens airport?

I would definitely recommend the Sofitel - you walk out of the terminal and it is across the road. We used it in March when transiting through to Kefalonia. It's not the cheapest but saves a lot of messing around and their Moussaka is damn good!!

Where can I find small village charm in Kefalonia?

If you are near Argostoli you could visit Fragkata and look for the old ruined village houses - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Old+Fragkata/@38.1780151,20.5751228,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x135d897e5b4f1d9f:0xd56b7530d44a1d62!8m2!3d38.1780109!4d20.5773168 - then continue through the...

Be careful, covid cases are rising in Greece

I think it's important to get some perspective on these figures. The main hotspots are the main urban centres on the mainland - Athens, Thessaloniki - rather than the majority of islands. I have just spent the last 3 months on Kefalonia where the case rate has fluctuated between 0 and 30 per...
