I’m planning a 10-day trip to Greece and would love some help crafting an itinerary. I’ve already spent time in Athens and the mainland, so this time, I’d like to focus entirely on the islands or other unique coastal spots. I’m interested in experiencing beautiful beaches, quaint villages, local culture, and, of course, some fantastic Greek food!

I’m open to a mix of popular spots and lesser-known islands, and I’d love suggestions on which islands are must-sees and how long to spend on each one. I’m especially curious if anyone has tips on efficient ferry routes or if it’s worth flying between some of the farther islands. Also, any recommendations on accommodations or local experiences would be amazing!

Thanks so much for any advice or ideas you can share.

Your trip sounds amazing! For a 10-day itinerary, I’d suggest starting in Santorini (3 days) for iconic views, wine tasting, and a mix of luxury and local charm. Then, hop on a ferry to Naxos (3 days)—it’s less touristy, with gorgeous beaches, charming villages like Apiranthos, and incredible local food. After that, head to Paros (2 days) for its vibrant yet laid-back vibe. Visit Naoussa for seaside dining and explore Antiparos if time allows.

For something more off the beaten path, wrap up in Milos (2 days), known for unique beaches like Sarakiniko and stunning coastal landscapes. Ferries are efficient for this route, but flying might save time if you decide to include farther islands like Crete or Rhodes.

Best Places in Greece to Visit in May or September?

I love to travel to Greece in May and September. They're beautiful months that have great weather and decreased crowds. I'd love your recommendations.

I’m open to anything—mainland gems, lesser-known islands, cultural hotspots, foodie towns, or places with beautiful nature. I’ve been to Athens and Santorini already, so I’d love to explore somewhere new that really shines in spring or early fall.

Do you find the beaches still swimmable in late September? And are most restaurants, tavernas, and attractions still open then? What about May—does everything feel “awake,” or is it still quiet?

How much money to take to Greece?

I’m starting to plan the money side of my trip to Greece and was wondering—how much should I realistically bring with me? I know it depends on travel style, but I’d love to hear what others spent daily on average for things like meals, local transport, entrance fees, and small extras like coffee or souvenirs.

I’m staying in mid-range accommodations that are already paid for, and I’ll be visiting both Athens and a couple of islands. I’d like to enjoy the trip without worrying too much, but I also don’t want to bring way more than I need or rely too heavily on cards.

Do most places take credit cards now, or is cash still king? And how much should I carry on me at any given time? Any tips for ATMs, budgeting, or knowing what’s “enough” per day?

Appreciate any insight from recent travelers. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone visited Delphi?

I’m planning a trip to Delphi and would love some advice from anyone who has been there. I’m particularly excited to see the archaeological site and the famous Temple of Apollo, but I’d also like to know if there are any hidden gems nearby worth exploring.

Do you have recommendations for the best times to visit to avoid crowds? Are there local guides you’d suggest? Also, I’m curious about nearby restaurants or cafes that serve authentic Greek food.

Any tips on where to stay in the area or how much time to set aside for a visit would be fantastic too. Thanks in advance!

Best Greek Beaches for First Time Visitors?

I'm basically asking for a friend — it's been decades since I was a first-time visitor to Greece, so I don’t really remember what that fresh, wide-eyed perspective feels like anymore. I’m definitely biased when it comes to Greek beaches… Elafonissi in Crete is hands-down my favorite, and of course I already told my friend to put it on their list.

But I figured I’d ask you all: what are the best beaches in Greece for someone visiting for the first time?

They’re looking for something beautiful, memorable, and not too hard to get to. Bonus points for spots with nearby tavernas or charming villages. I’d love to pass along some of your suggestions so they can make the most of their trip.

So — what beaches made you fall in love with Greece the first time you went?
