I'm planning a trip to Rhodes and am really excited about exploring the island on foot. I’m looking for advice on the best hiking trails.

Can anyone recommend must-see routes that showcase the island's natural beauty and historical sites? I'm particularly interested in trails with stunning views, as well as any that might lead to hidden gems or lesser-known spots. Also, are there any safety tips or specific gear I should bring along? Lastly, I'd love to hear about any guided hiking tours that are worth joining.

Any personal experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Rhodes is perfect for hiking, offering a blend of natural beauty and historical charm! I highly recommend the Butterfly Valley (Petaloudes) trail, especially in summer when it's filled with colorful butterflies.

For stunning views, hike up Mount Attavyros, the island’s highest peak, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over Rhodes. If you’re into history, the trail to the Ancient Kamiros is a must, combining scenic landscapes with ancient ruins.

For hidden gems, the Seven Springs (Epta Piges) offers a magical walk through lush greenery and cool waters. As for gear, good hiking shoes, plenty of water, and sun protection are essential. If you prefer guided tours, check out local operators offering hikes in the Akramitis area, which is less touristy but equally beautiful.

butterfly valley does NOT have colourful butterflys . only rather dull tiger moths. Seven Springs a hidden gem . Not really the car/ coach park is full nearly every day .The Akramitis area is where monolithios castle is located.coach loads of people are taken there every day as part of the island tour.they have probably been to seven springs before going to monolithos. You have obviously not been to rhodes & just copied from an outdated guide book or similar .

Most relaxing beaches on Rhodes?

I could use some updated advice. When I sit at the beach, I don’t want it to be crazy—I’m looking for calm, quiet, and a bit of space to breathe. I just found out in another thread that some of the beaches I was considering for my upcoming trip to Rhodes have changed a lot over the years—apparently some are way more crowded or developed now than they used to be.

Does anyone have recommendations for truly relaxing beaches on the island? I don’t need beach bars or party vibes—just clear water, a peaceful atmosphere, and preferably not packed with sunbeds wall to wall. A little taverna nearby would be a bonus, but I’m happy packing my own lunch too.

Are there any spots that still feel a bit under the radar, or at least mellow during certain times of day? I’d really appreciate any suggestions from recent visitors.

Local wines to try in Rhodes?

I’m starting to gather ideas for a possible late fall trip to Rhodes and one thing I’d really love to explore is the local wine. I’m Greek and have been to Greece many times, but never to Rhodes, so I’m not familiar with the island’s wine scene at all.

I’ve read that Rhodes has a long tradition of winemaking and that certain villages, like Embonas, are known for their vineyards. Are there particular grape varieties or labels I should look for? Any local favorites that don’t make it to the mainland but are worth seeking out while I’m there?

I’d also love to know if there are wineries that offer tastings or tours in the fall, and whether that’s a good season for visiting vineyards in Rhodes.

If you’ve had wine in Rhodes that made an impression, I’d be grateful for your recommendations!

4-Day Itinerary for Rhodes?

I’m in the research phase for my next trip to Greece, and Rhodes is one of the top contenders on my list. I’d love to explore a mix of history, nature, and good food—plus a little beach time, of course!

If you’ve been to Rhodes, what would you recommend for a well-rounded 4-day stay? I’m wondering if it’s best to base myself in one place like Rhodes Town or Lindos, or if it’s worth moving around. Are there certain sites or villages that are absolute musts? And how easy is it to get around. Should I rent a car or rely on public transport?

I’d really appreciate any sample itineraries, favorite spots, or tips you’ve picked up from past visits. Thank you so much!

Information About Walking at Mandraki Harbor?

I night be planning a trip to Rhodes soon, and I keep hearing about how beautiful Mandraki Harbor is — especially for an evening stroll. I’ve seen photos of the deer statues at the entrance and the line of old windmills along the water, and it looks absolutely magical.

I was wondering if anyone could share more details about what it’s like to walk there. Is the whole harbor area pedestrian-friendly, or are there sections with car traffic to watch out for? Are there benches or spots to sit and enjoy the view?

Also, are there cafes or ice cream places along the way where you can stop? I’d love to know if it’s lively in the evenings, or more peaceful and quiet. Any tips?
