Hello everyone, Newby here, so please bare with me if this question has been asked before. I will be arriving in Rhodes on Friday evening, and wondering if its cheaper to prebook a taxi or just jump in a taxi at the airport, as not sure if there is a standard rate or not. Thanks

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for stopping by!
If you have a chance to pre-book a taxi I would unless the cost is significantly higher, otherwise finding a taxi might work. Have a great trip to Rhodes!

Just take a taxi from outside the arrivals building.Always plenty waiting for flights.Fares are set with prices on a board at the rank..

While opting for a taxi may seem like the convenient option at first glance, there are certain drawbacks to take into account. During peak times at the airport, such as busy travel seasons or peak arrival hours, there is a possibility of extended wait times for taxi services. Pre book a taxi or private transfer through a travel agency (cheaper option) is the best choice.

Generally speaking, airport taxis in Rhodes operate with set fares depending on the destination, but they can sometimes be slightly higher at night or during peak hours. Pre-booking usually gives you a fixed rate, peace of mind, and someone waiting for you on arrival - which is great after a long flight.
To get an idea of what a reliable pre-booked service should feel like, you can check out www.miamilimocar.com - while they’re based in Miami, they’re known for clear pricing and punctual service. That’s the kind of standard you’ll want to look for when booking in Rhodes.

Can You Walk the City Walls in Rhodes?

I’m starting to plan a visit to Rhodes and keep seeing photos of the medieval Old Town walls, which made me wonder how accessible they actually are. I know the city walls are a major part of Rhodes’ history, but I’m curious about the practical side of visiting them.

Can you actually walk along the city walls, or are they mostly something you admire from below? If walking is possible, are there specific entrances or sections that are open to the public? I’m also wondering how long it takes and whether it feels more like a short stroll or a full, immersive walk.

For those who’ve done it, is it worth prioritizing? Are there good viewpoints from the walls, or parts that stand out more than others? I’d love to hear what the experience is like and whether it’s something you’d recommend fitting into a first visit to Rhodes.

wild life on afantou beach

What Happened to the Colossus of Rhodes?

I’ve been reading about Colossus of Rhodes and realized I don’t actually know what happened to it. I know it was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and that it stood somewhere near the harbor in Rhodes, but beyond that, the details are a bit fuzzy for me.

Did it collapse because of an earthquake? And if so, what happened to the remains afterward? I’ve heard different versions—some say it stayed in pieces for a long time, others say it was eventually removed or sold off.

Also, is there any real evidence of exactly where it stood, or is that still debated? Curious to hear what people know or have learned, especially if you’ve visited Rhodes and seen any related sites or history in person.

shop & tavernas etc starting to open

tourists are arriving now so rhodes is starting to come back to life
