I have a bucket list of going to Kefalonia while the turtles are on the beaches. I love turtles and this seems like a really beautiful thing.

I found this video that talks about them. It's not quite seeing them in person, but it was informative. Thought I'd share:

The sea turtles of Kefalonia are so fascinating! I have learned about it in the past and wanted to share:

The waters surrounding Kefalonia are home to two types of sea turtles – the Loggerhead turtle and the Green turtle. These majestic creatures are unique and have their respective characteristics, which set them apart.

Loggerhead turtles have a heart-shaped carapace and powerful legs, that enable them to swim at incredible speeds. On the other hand, Green turtles have a more streamlined body shape, making them more comfortable swimmers.

I would totally see them if I had a chance - this looks so amazing!

Traditional Dishes to Try in Kefalonia?

Hi everyone! I'm heading to Kefalonia soon and super excited to explore the island’s food scene. I’ve heard there are some amazing local dishes unique to Kefalonia, and I want to make sure I don’t miss out on the most traditional ones.

So far, I’ve seen people mention kreatopita (meat pie), and I’m curious about other authentic things to try — whether it’s main dishes, desserts, or street food. I love trying regional specialties when I travel and would rather eat what the locals eat than stick to touristy menus.

Are there any specific dishes that are only found on Kefalonia? Any tavernas or bakeries that serve amazing local food? I'd also love tips on what to pair with a glass of Robola wine!

Thanks so much — I’m building my must-eat list now and would love your suggestions!

Best Beach in Kefalonia to Visit?

I’m heading to Kefalonia soon, but I might not have a lot of time to spend at the beach. I know the island is famous for its stunning coastline, so I want to make sure I visit at least one amazing beach while I’m there.

From what I’ve seen, Myrtos Beach looks incredible, but I’ve also heard great things about Petani Beach and Antisamos Beach. If you could visit just one beach in Kefalonia, which would you choose and why? I’m looking for a mix of scenery, accessibility, and a great swimming experience. Bonus points if there’s a nice taverna nearby for a quick meal! What do you think?

Tips About Myrtos Beach

I’m planning a trip to Kefalonia, and Myrtos Beach is at the top of my must-visit list! I’ve seen so many gorgeous photos of the white pebbles, turquoise water, and dramatic cliffs, and I can’t wait to experience it in person.

For those who’ve been there, do you have any tips to share? I’d love advice on the best time of day to visit, parking, and whether it’s better to bring my own beach umbrella or if rentals are available. Is it family-friendly, or is the water too rough? Are there nearby spots to grab a bite to eat, or should I pack a picnic?

Also, are there any hidden gems nearby worth checking out after enjoying the beach? I’d appreciate any suggestions to make the most of my visit. Thanks!

When do things shut down in Kefalonia in the fall?

I’m considering a trip to Kefalonia in mid-October and wanted to get some insight from those who have visited around that time. I’ve heard that many Greek islands start winding down their tourist season in the fall, and I’m wondering if that’s the case with Kefalonia too.

Are the main attractions, tavernas, and shops still open, or do things start closing up after the summer rush? I’d love to know if I’ll still be able to enjoy the beaches, boat trips, and some local food spots, or if it’ll be quieter with limited options.

Also, is the weather still pleasant for exploring and swimming in October? I’m hoping to experience a more relaxed vibe but don’t want to miss out on the island’s highlights.

Summer Festivals in Kefalonia?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Kefalonia this summer and have some flexibility with my travel dates.

I’d love to experience one of the island’s local festivals—whether it’s a religious celebration, cultural event, or music and food gathering.

Can anyone recommend festivals that are particularly special or unique? I’ve heard about the Agios Gerasimos feast on August 16th and the Robola Wine Festival in late August, but I’m open to any suggestions.

I’m especially interested in events that offer a glimpse into local traditions and community spirit. Thanks in advance for your insights!
