This discovery is so interesting! Especially considering so many people struggle with depression today. The medicine discovered was made from plants and was found in an actual ancient laboratory

This is very interesting! It goes to show you that humanity struggled with these issues for thousands of years.

How far did the Ancient Greek empire really expand?

I've seen a lot of debate around this topic and I'm actually not sure how far the ancient Greek empire really expanded. I have seen some news articles that say they were ancient Greeks in modern day England. Is this even possible? And just because they were ancient Greeks in certain areas does that mean that the ancient Greek rule really stretch that far? If anyone has any insight it would really help! Thanks

I Roza tis Smirnis (Roza of Smyrna) is a beautiful Greek movie set back in time

This is one of my favourite Greek movies where I got to learn about Greek history without it being a boring documentary! This movie is in present day and in history and goes over the history of Smyrna which is a very important city in the history of the Byzantine and Ottoman empire. The story follows a young woman who is made aware of the tragic past other families history as a result of the genocide in 1922 and the burning of the city of Smyrna.

To Kokkino Potami is the best historical Greek TV show

To Kokkino Potami (Red River) is the best tv show in Greece at the moment! It's super high budget and has amazing Greek actors. The show has only one season and follows the story of the Greek genocide and specifically Pontians (Greek ethnic group) that happened throughout the 1900's. The show is fantastic and I hope they release more seasons. Is anyone watching this show??

Check out this webinar about the Greek immigrant experience

Excellent webinar, describes a Greek immigrant experience in the United States. Presentation is brought by the Hellenic-American Cultural Center & Museum and includes interviews and presentations by experts and professionals. Absolute favourite part of the presentation was looking at the images from the historical archives which show images dating back to the 1900's. I hope you all enjoy it!

Need Genealogy help

Trying to trace my Greek genealogy. My great grandfather first came to the US in the 1890s and settled in Lynn MA. I have found it challenging to find greek records because of name changes when they came to the US. My great grandfather, Elias Gouzoules was from Georgitsi Greece. I believe he was born in the 1870s and died in Lynn MA in 1944. I know his father was a Priest in the village. I think his name was Panayotis Gouzoules (my grandfather was named Panayotis Winston Elias born 1901-1982) I believe my great grandfather had 13 siblings. I would love to be able to get names of his mother, siblings etc and if there are any relatives still living in Greece, birth and death dates etc. I have also heard that Panayotis Gouzoules' dad fought in the rebellion. I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have! Thank you! Sarah
