We have been in Argostoli for 3 months and returned to UK about 2 weeks ago. Almost every restaurant and cafe was open although a few had literally done so in the last week that we were there. Sadly there a few who haven't weathered the storm financially and have not reopened.

Most of the 'tourist' locations elsewhere have some places open though again maybe not as many as before.

That is so sad to hear :( I wish that the people who owned these businesses are okay and that they found another way to make a living

I agree, it's sad! It will be great once this pandemic is over... I wanted to go to Kefalonia/Greece this year but decided to hold off.

I agree, it's definitely sad! I think we will all be happy when the pandemic is over...

For sure, I haven't decided when to go yet. I think I need to see what happens with the Delta Variant. I am hoping for next summer, fingers crossed!

Arbutus berries are Kefalonias Christmas time fruit that can be used for anything!

You will find these strawberry like berries all over the island during Christmas time! They can be used to make jams and a variety of fruit and even eaten plain as a snack! Some people like to make a sweet liquor with it or mix it in to popular Greek liquors like ouzo. Many locals will decorate their house with branches of the berries, I guess you could say its a Kefalonia version of wreaths and mistletoe. I believe in Greek its called koúmara but I'm not too sure, if there are any Greek speakers on this forum please help me out!

Post your Kefalonia pictures!!

I would love to see everyones pics! Here is Melissni cave 😍😍😍

Greeces most unique lighthouse is in Kefalonia!

This is the only lighthouse ive seen that doesn't even look like a lighthouse! It was originally built in 1828 by a British administrator named Charles Napier. The lighthouse was completely destroyed during an earthquake that ravaged the island back in the 1950’s but was rebuilt in the 1960’s. I love how there's so much history behind every building in Greece :)

The island of Kefalonia just published brand new tourism videos!

These official videos have just come out and they're stunning. There's a few different ones, this one focuses on food and gastronomy but there are others such as Destinations, Nature etc. The quality of these videos is so amazing and I am sure that it is going to attract very many tourists. I am even considering visiting the island myself even though I never had it on my list. I am so excited to see what else they come out with!
