Hey everyone! I was chatting with a friend who’s from Crete, and they were telling me some interesting things about the bakeries there—how they have different styles of bread and even certain loaves that are more common locally. It made me realize I’ve never really thought about whether everyday bread in Greece varies by region.
I mostly know the standard horiatiko (village-style bread) and maybe one or two others, but now I’m wondering… do different parts of Greece have their own traditional breads for daily use? Are there unique shapes, flours, or baking methods depending on the region?
I’d love to hear from anyone who grew up in a specific area or who’s traveled around Greece—did you notice different kinds of bread from place to place?
