Greece is super hot these days. This means that there is a higher chance of wild fires in very dry areas (some parts of north Athens are on fire right now) and chance for you to have heat exhaustion and sun disease. Please everyone stay hydrated on your vacations and keep a close eye on elderly and people with health problems! Stay in the shade and take many dips into the cool sea, enjoy!

It has been a hot summer everywhere! What is Greece like now, does anyone have insight?

Nice Islands Only Accessible by Ferry

I have been interested in going a bit "off the beaten track" in Greece. I have been told that one of the things to look for are islands that don't have an airport. Off the top of your head, can you guys think of some good ones?

Some possibilities: Asypylaia, Halki, Ikaria... I feel like there could be more.

I want the island to be quiet, but still with things to do ... like beaches, maybe a museum or two, some shopping, restaurants..

18 Year Old Hotel Reservations?

Hi guys - although I still occasionally lurk around here.

A few friends and I are planning to attend CoasterMania this year on Friday. Since we live close (2 and a half hours) we'll be leaving here in the early morning, getting there for some ERT and such. However, being 18, my parents don't want me driving home at 12:30am. So my friends and I have decided to get a hotel room for Friday night.

We're running into some problems finding a hotel that works for us, though. Unless I'm blind, I can't find where most hotel sites put a minimum age. I found this year, from resorts.cedarpoint.com, this gem:

Guests 17 years old or younger are not permitted to register or reserve rooms or camping sites at Cedar Point Resorts. All guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their stay.

Does this mean Cedar Point Resorts are now allowing 18 year olds to reserve a room? This would work wonderfully, since it's close and it's in our budget (Breakers Express). If anyone has any advice or info on hotels, it'd be apprecaited. Budget is no more than $120, the cheaper the better. We're guys, we just need a bed, a toliet and a shower.

I would be the primary credit card holder, and I would be traveling with another 18 year old and two 17 year olds. Does anyone know if that will be a problem and I should rethink the travel plans?

Islands Not Far from Piraeus

I have someone traveling with me who can't take the faster ferry. She gets seasick so can only take the slow one. Also because of her seasickness, the ride needs to be 3 hours or less. We want to stay on the island for at least a few days.

So far, these are the islands we are considering. Did I miss anything?

How long to spend in Athens?

I am trying to decide how long to be in Athens. I have some people to visit, I want to do some of the city walks (Lycabettus, Philopappou), and I also want to visit some of the sites. I have visited most of the sites in the past, so I am not going to go too crazy here. My goal for Greece is to relax, visit people, making go to a beach of two. I am thinking of picking a good island with beaches and spending maybe 5 nights at this island, and then possibly spending the rest of the time in Athens. I am trying to decide if I will spend 3 weeks or more in Greece this summer. I think two weeks in Athens sounds like a lot, but on the other hand, I love to just pick one or two spots and really enjoy them during my time in Greece, rather than travel all around and get exhausted. What do you think?

27.8 million tourists visited Greece in 2022 and spent 618 euros per trip on average !

Having worked in Tourism Industry for many years I am sceptical about the type of data....the most interesting take for me is the average spending per trip which is so low!....by this I mean should all the high end Greek destinations are excluded Greece is an extremely affordable and excellent place to visit and more importantly should any one have additional time and can afford to spend their spare cash..... Greece is the word!❤️❤️..
Not surprised US inbound figures are so positive!.....and will be even better this coming season!!
