I have to go to Athens for a business trip and I won't have time to tour around Greece. I'll only be there maybe 5 nights. I want to go to the beach, though, since it's summer!

I would love some recommendations on the best beaches to visit. I'm looking for a mix of beautiful scenery, good amenities, and perhaps a few spots that are less crowded. Here are a few specifics I'm considering:

1. Family-friendly beaches: Any spots that are particularly good for families with kids?

2. Secluded beaches: Are there any hidden gems where I can avoid the crowds?

3. Water sports: I'm interested in trying some water sports, so suggestions for beaches where these are available would be great.

4. Beach bars and restaurants: Any suggestions for beaches that have great food and drink options nearby?

Thanks in advance for your help! I'm excited to explore the Athens Riviera.

The Athens Riviera has some fantastic beaches for you to enjoy. For family-friendly beaches, try Vouliagmeni Beach. It has shallow waters, playgrounds, and plenty of amenities, making it perfect for kids.

If you’re looking for secluded spots, head to Kavouri Beach. It’s a bit quieter and offers beautiful scenery without the crowds. Another hidden gem is KAPE Beach, near Sounion, which is more remote but incredibly picturesque.

For water sports, Varkiza Beach is a great choice. It has facilities for windsurfing, paddleboarding, and more. Plus, the vibe is energetic and fun.

If you want beach bars and restaurants, Astir Beach is top-notch. It’s a bit upscale but has excellent dining options and a luxurious atmosphere.

Advice for Bartering in Monastiraki?

On my last trip to Athens, I spent some time wandering through Monastiraki and loved the vibrant atmosphere, but I quickly realized that bartering is a skill I could use some help with! I know haggling is expected at flea markets and souvenir stalls, but I wasn’t sure how much to negotiate without being rude.

For those who’ve successfully bartered in Monastiraki—or anywhere else in Greece—what are your best tips? Are there certain phrases in Greek that help? How much should I aim to negotiate off the original price? Are there particular times of day when vendors are more willing to give a deal?

I’d love to hear any advice, personal experiences, or even mistakes to avoid. I want to be respectful while also making sure I get a fair price. Thanks in advance!

Day Trip to Sounion/ Temple of Poseidon from Athens

I’m planning a day trip from Athens to Cape Sounion to see the Temple of Poseidon, and I’d love some tips to make the most of it! What’s the best way to get there—should I rent a car, take a bus, or book a guided tour?

I’m also curious about the best time to visit, especially if I want to catch the sunset, which I’ve heard is spectacular from there. Are there any good spots to eat nearby, or should I pack a picnic? Also, is there anything else worth exploring in the area, like hidden beaches or scenic spots? I’m aiming for a relaxed day with some great views and a bit of history. Any advice on what to expect or what to bring would be much appreciated.

Which Neighborhood in Athens is the Best to Stay?

I’m planning a trip to Athens and need some advice on the best neighborhood to stay in. I've stayed in the Plaka and Thissio - both were fabulous. But with so many options, I am wondering if I am missing out. I’m looking for a place that’s central enough to explore the main attractions like the Acropolis, Plaka, and the museums, but also has a local vibe with good food and cafés.

I’ve heard great things about areas like Monastiraki, Plaka, and Kolonaki, but I’m curious about what each neighborhood has to offer. Are some better for walking and sightseeing? Which areas are quieter but still close to the action?

Also, safety is a priority for me, especially at night, so any insights on neighborhoods to avoid or tips for getting around would be much appreciated.

Thiseio Neighborhood of Athens Advice

I’m planning a trip to Athens and have heard a lot of great things about the Thiseio area, but I don’t know much about it. I’m curious if anyone can share their experiences or tips for exploring this neighborhood. What makes it stand out compared to other areas in Athens?

I know it’s close to the Acropolis, but are there other must-see attractions nearby that are worth checking out? I’m also interested in knowing if there are any good places to eat or grab a coffee with a view, as I’ve heard it’s a popular spot for outdoor cafes.

Does anyone have recommendations?

Historical Landmarks in Athens Over 3 Days?

I’ll be in Athens for just 3 days this summer and want to make the most of it by exploring the city’s rich history. There’s so much to see, and I’m a bit overwhelmed trying to prioritize!

Of course, the Acropolis and Parthenon are on my list, but I’d love your advice on other must-visit landmarks. Should I make time for the Ancient Agora or the Temple of Olympian Zeus? Is the Acropolis Museum worth it, or would you suggest something like the National Archaeological Museum instead?

I’m also curious about less touristy historical spots—are there any hidden gems or unique sites that tell the story of Athens’ past?
