I’m heading to Kefalonia soon, but I might not have a lot of time to spend at the beach. I know the island is famous for its stunning coastline, so I want to make sure I visit at least one amazing beach while I’m there.

From what I’ve seen, Myrtos Beach looks incredible, but I’ve also heard great things about Petani Beach and Antisamos Beach. If you could visit just one beach in Kefalonia, which would you choose and why? I’m looking for a mix of scenery, accessibility, and a great swimming experience. Bonus points if there’s a nice taverna nearby for a quick meal! What do you think?

If you can only visit one beach in Kefalonia, Myrtos Beach is the top choice! It’s the island’s most iconic beach for a reason—breathtaking white pebbles, dramatic cliffs, and the most stunning shades of blue you’ll ever see. The view from above is worth the trip alone! However, keep in mind that the waves can sometimes be strong, so it’s not always the best for calm swimming.

If you prefer a beach with easier swimming conditions and a great taverna nearby, Petani Beach is a fantastic alternative. It has similarly striking scenery but with calmer waters on most days. Plus, Fish Taverna Porto Petani is right on the beach and serves delicious fresh seafood.

Antisamos Beach is another great option, especially if you enjoy a more vibrant atmosphere with beach bars and crystal-clear water, but if you’re looking for that picture-perfect Kefalonian experience, Myrtos is the best!

Favorite places to see in Kefalonia?

I’m planning a trip to Kefalonia this spring/summer and would love your input on must-see places on the island. I’ve heard it’s one of the most beautiful Greek islands, and I want to make the most of my time there!

What were your favorite spots—beaches, villages, viewpoints, or natural attractions? I’ve seen photos of Myrtos Beach and Melissani Cave, which look stunning. Are they worth the hype? Any hidden gems you'd recommend that aren't overly touristy?

I’m also interested in local experiences—like wineries, small tavernas, walking trails, or cultural sites. Thank you!

Is Fiscardo worth staying overnight?

I’ve been looking into Kefalonia as a possible destination and keep coming across photos of Fiscardo. It looks pretty with its colorful buildings, a scenic harbor, and that classic Ionian charm. But I’m wondering, is it actually worth staying overnight there, or is it more of a daytime stop?

Some people say it’s a must for a night or two, while others say it’s too touristy and expensive for what you get. I’m trying to figure out if it would feel relaxing and special in the evenings once the crowds clear out, or if it’s better to base somewhere else and just drive in for a visit.

If you’ve stayed in Fiscardo (or decided not to), I’d love to hear your honest take. Would you go back? Or would you spend more time in places like Assos, Lixouri, or Sami instead?

Best Beach in Kefalonia to Visit?

5-Day Kefalonia Itinerary for First Time Visitors?

I’m planning my very first trip to Kefalonia and could really use some help building a 5-day itinerary. I’ll be visiting this summer and want to make the most of my time without feeling too rushed.

I’d love a mix of beautiful beaches, local villages, great food, and maybe one or two cultural or nature-based experiences like caves, wineries, or monasteries. I’ve heard great things about Myrtos Beach, Assos, and Melissani Cave, but I’m not sure how to organize the days or which area to stay in as a base.

Should I stay in one place the whole time or split my stay between two areas (like Argostoli and Fiskardo)? I’ll have a rental car, so I’m open to exploring.

If you’ve been to Kefalonia and have any tips, sample itineraries, or favorite spots, I’d be so grateful for your suggestions. Thank you in advance!

Other islands near Kefalonia?

I’m planning a trip to Kefalonia and would love to do some island hopping while I’m there. I know the Ionian Islands have some amazing spots, but I’m not sure which ones are the easiest to visit from Kefalonia.

I’ve heard that Ithaca is nearby—how easy is it to get there, and is it worth a day trip? Are there any smaller, less touristy islands that you’d recommend? I’m also curious if Zakynthos (Zante) is a realistic option for a quick visit or if it’s better to focus on smaller islands.

What’s the best way to get around? Are ferries reliable, or would it be better to rent a boat for a more flexible experience?

Any advice on routes, must-see spots, or hidden gems would be really appreciated! Looking forward to your suggestions.
