I'm considering a family trip to Rhodes and am curious about the best beaches for snorkeling. I've heard that Anthony Quinn Bay is a top spot, known for its clear waters and marine life. Kallithea Springs also comes up frequently, praised for its underwater scenery. For families, Tsambika Beach is mentioned as having gentle slopes into the sea, making it suitable for children. Agathi Beach is noted for its calm, shallow waters and sandy bottom, ideal for kids and beginners. Glystra Beach is another family-friendly option, with clear waters and a small rock island that's great for snorkeling.

Has anyone snorkeled at these beaches or have other recommendations? I'm looking for spots that are both exciting for snorkeling and safe for children. Any tips on equipment rental or guided tours would also be appreciated!

Anthony Quinn both on the beach & in the water has very sharp rocks .Have a look on YouTube .you will also see how busy it is , with little space between the sun beds

Yikes! I'm glad I asked - it seems like maybe other places in Greece are better for this? Of course I could go to Rhodes and enjoy it with my family and skip snorkeling, :)

Friends of mine took their kids to Rhodes last summer and had a great experience snorkeling. They said Anthony Quinn Bay was stunning—clear water and lots of fish near the rocks—but better suited for confident swimmers due to the rocky entry. For families with younger kids, they really loved Agathi Beach. It has a sandy bottom and gentle, shallow waters that were perfect for beginners. Tsambika was great for swimming and relaxing, though not as exciting for snorkeling. Glystra Beach was a nice in-between—safe for children and with a small rock island that offered a bit of underwater exploration. They found snorkeling gear for rent right at most beaches, especially at Anthony Quinn Bay. While they didn’t do a guided tour, some boat trips offered snorkeling stops. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and maybe water shoes for the rockier spots.

Most relaxing beaches on Rhodes?

I could use some updated advice. When I sit at the beach, I don’t want it to be crazy—I’m looking for calm, quiet, and a bit of space to breathe. I just found out in another thread that some of the beaches I was considering for my upcoming trip to Rhodes have changed a lot over the years—apparently some are way more crowded or developed now than they used to be.

Does anyone have recommendations for truly relaxing beaches on the island? I don’t need beach bars or party vibes—just clear water, a peaceful atmosphere, and preferably not packed with sunbeds wall to wall. A little taverna nearby would be a bonus, but I’m happy packing my own lunch too.

Are there any spots that still feel a bit under the radar, or at least mellow during certain times of day? I’d really appreciate any suggestions from recent visitors.

Traditional Dishes to Try While on Rhodes?

I’ll be visiting Rhodes this summer, and I can’t wait to explore the island’s food scene! I know Greek cuisine is amazing, but I’d love to try local dishes that are unique to Rhodes.

Are there any must-try specialties that I shouldn’t miss? I’ve heard about pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) and lakani (a slow-cooked meat dish), but I’d love more recommendations—whether it’s seafood, traditional meze, or local desserts.

Also, if you have any restaurant or taverna recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! I want to experience authentic, home-style cooking rather than just touristy spots. Bonus points if it’s by the sea with a great view!

Looking forward to your tips and suggestions—thanks in advance!

Ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Rhodes soon and while I’m excited for the beaches and historical sites, I’d also love to connect with the natural side of the island. I know Rhodes is more than just medieval walls and crystal-clear water—so I’m wondering:

What are your favorite ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Are there any scenic hikes, quiet walking trails, or nature reserves you’d recommend? I’ve heard of places like the Valley of the Butterflies and Seven Springs, but I’m open to hidden gems too—lush areas, mountain drives, peaceful beaches off the beaten path, or even botanical gardens or scenic outlooks.

I’m not necessarily looking for adrenaline adventures—just ways to unwind and take in the island’s natural beauty.
