I'm planning a trip to Rhodes and am eager to dive into its culinary scene. I'm looking for recommendations on the best culinary experiences the island has to offer.
  • Must-Try Dishes: What traditional dishes should I not miss?
  • Top Restaurants and Tavernas: Which spots are renowned for authentic local cuisine?
  • Local Markets: Are there any markets where I can sample local produce and street food?
  • Unique Food Experiences: Any cooking classes, food tours, or wine tastings you’d recommend?
I'm a fan of fresh, local ingredients and love discovering hidden gems, whether it's a seaside taverna or a bustling market stall. Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

try kleftiko, moussaka & stifado.or just a pita gyros
have a walk through the new market in rhodes town to see the tavernas . the best way to sample wines would be to hire a car & go to Embonas village , the wine centre on rhodes. here is emery distrillery & many others

Great tips! I will keep them in mind for myself next time I am on Rhodes.

You might want to consider taking a food tour given by a local, too.

Films made on Rhodes

I have seen , The Guns of Navarone , Escape to Athens , Pascali's Island & High season . On TV an episode of Poirot called Triangle of Rhodes was filmed @ Kallithea Springs before its renovation .
Do you know of any more ?

Traditional Dishes to Try While on Rhodes?

I’ll be visiting Rhodes this summer, and I can’t wait to explore the island’s food scene! I know Greek cuisine is amazing, but I’d love to try local dishes that are unique to Rhodes.

Are there any must-try specialties that I shouldn’t miss? I’ve heard about pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) and lakani (a slow-cooked meat dish), but I’d love more recommendations—whether it’s seafood, traditional meze, or local desserts.

Also, if you have any restaurant or taverna recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! I want to experience authentic, home-style cooking rather than just touristy spots. Bonus points if it’s by the sea with a great view!

Looking forward to your tips and suggestions—thanks in advance!

Ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Rhodes soon and while I’m excited for the beaches and historical sites, I’d also love to connect with the natural side of the island. I know Rhodes is more than just medieval walls and crystal-clear water—so I’m wondering:

What are your favorite ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Are there any scenic hikes, quiet walking trails, or nature reserves you’d recommend? I’ve heard of places like the Valley of the Butterflies and Seven Springs, but I’m open to hidden gems too—lush areas, mountain drives, peaceful beaches off the beaten path, or even botanical gardens or scenic outlooks.

I’m not necessarily looking for adrenaline adventures—just ways to unwind and take in the island’s natural beauty.

Tavernas in Lindos to Try?

I am still looking for recommendations on Tavernas in Lindos to try. I haven't been to Lindos, yet. Also what dishes should I try?

Any advice on making reservations or what times are best to avoid crowds would be super helpful too. I want to make the most of my time and enjoy some truly memorable meals. Thanks!
