I am trying to figure out the best Greek island to visit for a girl trip with a group of my girlfriends. We love wine tasting, nightlife, beaches, shopping, and enjoying some of the culture of Greece. I have a feeling we'll need a place that has a lot of variety. As the group will be larger, we also need to have the location to have a lot of things going on that we can walk to, especially if we can walk to go out to eat or grab drinks somewhere. As far as I know, we don't plan to rent a car (unless we really have to). What do you guys think?

I have also heard great things about Halkidiki and the variety of things you can do. Crete also seems like a great place for what you are looking for.

The island of Zakynthos, lying on the Ionian Sea, is undoubtedly one of the most popular islands among tourists. With azure waters, beautiful beaches and plenty of resorts to choose from, this island seduces most who dream of sweet laziness in the sun's heat. Attractions include Keri, a small town where you can see the giant Greek flag in the world and the most beautiful sunsets on the island. There is also Kalamaki, a small resort, which is very easy to get to from the airport, which is of great interest. These places are much more interesting than California, where I live. Here almost every town has a safety index is 94. I think you like the Greek islands as much as I do.

Naxiots once made considerable fortunes exporting potatoes, cheese, marble and emery. Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna delight toddlers and teenagers alike with their shallow waters and beach bars. As you head south, the beaches get wilder: Plaka, where you can gallop across the dunes on horseback, Mikri Vigla for windsurfing and kitesurfing, and crystal-clear Kastraki.

Should you tire of frolicking on the shore, three supersized kouros statues are hidden in the hills and there are dozens of drowsy villages to explore. Try kitron, the local citron liqueur, at the Vallindras distillery in Halki or sample homemade wine and arseniko cheese under the plane trees in Ano Potamia village. No wonder Herodotus described Naxos as 'the happiest of islands'.

Where to stay in Naxos: Kavos is a low-key complex of boxy white villas, set among bright bursts of bougainvillaea, geraniums, and roses, above Agios Prokopios beach.

Best Kythira Beaches

I am continuing my research of Kythira and I thought I would make a list of a few beaches to visit. I wonder if those of you who know the island can weigh in:
  • Kapsali Beach
  • Chalkos Beach
  • Kaladi Beach
  • Diakofti Beach
  • Platia Amos Beach
I like relaxing beaches with great scenery - they don't need to have nearby services necessarily, but I like it when they do.

How long to spend in Athens?

I am trying to decide how long to be in Athens. I have some people to visit, I want to do some of the city walks (Lycabettus, Philopappou), and I also want to visit some of the sites. I have visited most of the sites in the past, so I am not going to go too crazy here. My goal for Greece is to relax, visit people, making go to a beach of two. I am thinking of picking a good island with beaches and spending maybe 5 nights at this island, and then possibly spending the rest of the time in Athens. I am trying to decide if I will spend 3 weeks or more in Greece this summer. I think two weeks in Athens sounds like a lot, but on the other hand, I love to just pick one or two spots and really enjoy them during my time in Greece, rather than travel all around and get exhausted. What do you think?

Which Ancient Greek Plays Should I See Live?

I want to catch a live theater performance while in Greece this summer. There are some choices! Which Ancient Greek plays are worth seeing in general? Has anyone seen any? I know the Epidaurus theater has some performances. There's one from Aristophanes Called The Wasps that I might go to. I have never heard of it, has anyone seen it?

Athens, Rhodes and Milos among the 20 best holiday destinations in Europe in 2023!

Always inspiring and informative editorials from the Tornos team!.... Athens in my opinion has just only just become popular in the past 20 years or so! ...... Now I remember Rhodes being a preferred destination 50 years ago when I began working in Tourism from good ol'London town!..... Milos is a new kid on the block!..... Fabulous breathtakingly beautiful beaches!

Things to Do in Rhodes Town

While on Rhodes over the summer, I decided to use Rhodes Town as a home base. I am researching fun things to do. I know about the usual things to see - the Knights of Saint John, Acropolis of Lindos, the old town area, and some museums.

What I am looking for are suggestions for things that are other outside of the box, or specific recommendations that personally meant a lot to you or that you enjoyed. I am so looking forward to this trip and I want t get the most of it!
