Hey everyone! Well, it looks like next year’s trip to Greece will include Rhodes, and as a photography enthusiast, I’m already planning out some top spots to capture the island’s beauty. I’ve heard amazing things about Lindos Acropolis with its panoramic views over the sea, and the Medieval City of Rhodes sounds like a dream for capturing historic charm with those winding stone streets and ancient architecture.

But I know there must be even more incredible places to shoot! I’d love your recommendations for other must-see spots that showcase Rhodes’ natural beauty, unique landscapes, or maybe even some hidden gems that most tourists miss. Any tips on best times of day or viewpoints would be amazing, too. Thanks in advance for helping me build an epic photography itinerary for Rhodes!

Hello I live on rhodes .There are many many places for photo oppertunities. For example , friend came on a 2 week holiday .At the end of each day he downloaded the photos from his camera cards. So were empty to use the next day . 65 times he downloaded & had hundreds of photos by the end of his holiday .The scenery on Rhodes is so diverse .For example take the sign posted road just outside village of Siana to Appolikia Dam .its tarmac most of the way but a short stretch alongside the dam is a dirt road .another scenic route is the drive from the village of Lachania to Skiadi monastery.its a good road all the way.Go from the village of Lardos towards Laerma .Follow the road towards Appalona village .However dont go to the village but go instead to Psinthos or Eleousa villages .In this area you will see the damage caused by the fire in August 2023.Seventy thousand acres were burned over 7 days.

Wow!! This is so helpful, I can't wait to put this into action. It's the diversity in the scenery that really caught my eye about this island so I appreciate you giving some suggestion for me to enjoy that aspect of it. I think it would be interesting to photograph some of the damaged areas, too. For me, photography is a way to capture the essence of the place, and sometimes that means some not so great parts of the island's past, as well, like the fires.

I had a lot of fun using my 360 camera around Lindos and the Old Town—there’s just so much going on visually. If you’re into capturing everything around you, www.insta360.com has some cool gear that makes it super easy to shoot interactive pics and videos, especially in spots like the Acropolis. Sunrise and sunset give the best colors for sure, and the narrow streets really pop with that soft light.

stupid taverna review

Just read a review for a taverna in monolithos on Rhodes .The writer stated they had the best mousaka on the whole of Rhodes. They could not possibly been to every taverna on the island .I cannot make that claim & I have been on Rhodes for over 16 years

Information About Walking at Mandraki Harbor?

I night be planning a trip to Rhodes soon, and I keep hearing about how beautiful Mandraki Harbor is — especially for an evening stroll. I’ve seen photos of the deer statues at the entrance and the line of old windmills along the water, and it looks absolutely magical.

I was wondering if anyone could share more details about what it’s like to walk there. Is the whole harbor area pedestrian-friendly, or are there sections with car traffic to watch out for? Are there benches or spots to sit and enjoy the view?

Also, are there cafes or ice cream places along the way where you can stop? I’d love to know if it’s lively in the evenings, or more peaceful and quiet. Any tips?

Local wines to try in Rhodes?

I’m starting to gather ideas for a possible late fall trip to Rhodes and one thing I’d really love to explore is the local wine. I’m Greek and have been to Greece many times, but never to Rhodes, so I’m not familiar with the island’s wine scene at all.

I’ve read that Rhodes has a long tradition of winemaking and that certain villages, like Embonas, are known for their vineyards. Are there particular grape varieties or labels I should look for? Any local favorites that don’t make it to the mainland but are worth seeking out while I’m there?

I’d also love to know if there are wineries that offer tastings or tours in the fall, and whether that’s a good season for visiting vineyards in Rhodes.

If you’ve had wine in Rhodes that made an impression, I’d be grateful for your recommendations!

Best beaches on Rhodes for snorkeling?

I'm considering a family trip to Rhodes and am curious about the best beaches for snorkeling. I've heard that Anthony Quinn Bay is a top spot, known for its clear waters and marine life. Kallithea Springs also comes up frequently, praised for its underwater scenery. For families, Tsambika Beach is mentioned as having gentle slopes into the sea, making it suitable for children. Agathi Beach is noted for its calm, shallow waters and sandy bottom, ideal for kids and beginners. Glystra Beach is another family-friendly option, with clear waters and a small rock island that's great for snorkeling.

Has anyone snorkeled at these beaches or have other recommendations? I'm looking for spots that are both exciting for snorkeling and safe for children. Any tips on equipment rental or guided tours would also be appreciated!
