Best Sunsets in Mykonos?

Much has been said about the sunsets in Santorini, and for the longest time I just assumed that was the place in Greece for sunset views. But recently, a friend came back from Mykonos and shared some absolutely gorgeous sunset photos, golden light over the water, soft colors, even the windmills in the background. I honestly had no idea Mykonos could look like that at sunset.

Now I’m curious if this is something people seek out there, or if it’s more of a hidden bonus compared to Santorini.

Do you have any favorite sunset spots on Mykonos? Are there specific beaches, viewpoints, or areas in town that really stand out? I’d love to hear recommendations before I start planning a trip.

Go to Little Venice, that is the area where sunset views are wonderful. Different from Santorini, but lovely. Drinks can be expensive in the Little Venice bars, but I usually get 1 or 2 and move on

Mykonos absolutely has beautiful sunsets, even if Santorini tends to get most of the attention. I actually think Mykonos sunsets feel a little different—less dramatic cliffs, but more atmosphere, movement, and that golden light reflecting off the white buildings and water. The windmills near Little Venice are probably the classic sunset spot for a reason. Watching the sun drop into the sea there with the waves crashing nearby is pretty incredible.

I’ve also heard that people love sunset views from Agios Ioannis Beach because you can sometimes see Delos silhouetted in the distance. Some beach clubs and restaurants along the waterfront are designed specifically around sunset dining as well.

What surprised me most about Mykonos is how the entire town seems to glow in the evening light. Even wandering through the narrow streets around sunset can feel magical. It definitely seems to be more than just a hidden bonus.
