I'm considering a trip to Corfu and am curious about the snorkeling opportunities there. Is Corfu a good place for snorkeling? Are there specific beaches or spots that are particularly great for underwater exploration? Any recommendations for guided snorkeling tours or places to rent equipment?

I’m looking for clear waters, abundant marine life, and beautiful underwater scenery. Additionally, any tips on the best times of year for snorkeling in Corfu would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Corfu is a fantastic place for snorkeling with its crystal-clear waters and diverse marine life. Here are a few tips:
  1. Best Spots: Head to Paleokastritsa for its stunning underwater caves and vibrant marine life. Agni Bay and Nissaki Beach are also great options with calm, clear waters.
  2. Equipment: Bring your own snorkeling gear if possible, as rentals may not always be reliable. Make sure your mask fits well and doesn't leak.
  3. Safety: Always snorkel with a buddy and stay aware of your surroundings. Be cautious of boat traffic, especially in popular areas.
  4. Marine Life: Look out for colorful fish, octopuses, and even the occasional sea turtle. Respect the marine environment by not touching or disturbing the wildlife.
  5. Timing: Early mornings are usually the best time to snorkel, as the water is calmer and there are fewer people around.

Best outdoor experience to have in Corfu?

I’m planning a trip to Corfu and am eager to make the most of its beautiful outdoors. I’m looking for advice on the best outdoor experiences the island has to offer.

What are the must-visit beaches for swimming and sunbathing? Are there any particular hiking trails with breathtaking views? I’ve heard about some stunning coastal walks—any recommendations?

I’m also interested in water activities like snorkeling and scuba diving. Where are the best spots for these? Additionally, if there are any unique outdoor experiences, like visiting hidden caves or exploring local wildlife reserves, I’d love to hear about those too. Thanks!

Public Transport Options in Corfu?

I’m planning a trip to Corfu soon and I’m hoping to rely mostly on public transportation to get around the island. I’ve read that the bus system is fairly extensive, but I’m a bit unsure about how easy it is to navigate, especially when visiting more remote areas or smaller villages.

Can anyone share tips on how to effectively use public buses in Corfu? Are there specific apps or websites that are particularly helpful for checking schedules and routes? Also, any advice on how reliable the service is, particularly during peak tourist season?

Also, if there are any other forms of public transport worth considering, I’d love to hear about those as well. I want to avoid renting a car if possible, so any insights on getting around the island efficiently that would help me.

I am trying to decide if I want to rent a car.,

Thanks in advance!

Best wineries to visit in Corfu?

I'm planning a trip to Corfu and am really interested in exploring some local wineries while I'm there. I've heard that Corfu has a fantastic wine culture and I'd love to experience it firsthand.

Can anyone recommend the best wineries to visit in Corfu? I'm particularly interested in places that offer tours and tastings, and where I can learn about the history and production processes. Any hidden gems or must-visit spots would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Paleokastritsa, summer 2025

Hi everyone

I have just joined this site to see if I can get some Corfu travel tips or maybe even meet some other people heading to Corfu next summer.
I am 53, from Derby, England, and I've decided to have a month's RnR in Paleokastritsa.
I'd be really keen to hear from anyone with any tips or insight into the area, life in Corfu, how I might be able to meet people and things to see and do. I'm thinking of hiring a moped to get around, do lots of reading, relaxing, hiking, eating and (a bit of) drinking! Most of all, reflecting and enjoying the environment - and the sunshine! I need to take some time to indulge in this.

What is Paleokastritsa like? From all of my research, it seems to be a good mix of quiet and lively (ie. not party town but also not completely dead). Are there restuarants there which aren't too expensive? Are there any good, chill out bars which stay open late? Also, are there ways to meet other travellers out there or is there anyone on here heading to Corfu next summer who'd be interested in connecting beforehand? It'd be really cool to build a little online community, if there was anyone in a similar position, even if they're going to a different part of the island.

Anyway, that's why I joined this site - to meet any others but also to find out about Corfu and paleokasistra. I'd love to hear from any of you!
All the best,
Neil

Learning About British Influence on Corfu

I'm planning a trip to Corfu and I'm particularly interested in learning about the British influence on the island. I've read that the British left a significant mark on Corfu during their rule in the 19th century, and I'd love to explore this aspect of the island's history.

Can anyone recommend specific historical sites, museums, or landmarks that highlight the British presence in Corfu? Are there particular buildings or areas in Corfu Town that showcase British architecture or influence?

I'm also interested in any guided tours or local experts who specialize in this topic. Additionally, any tips on literature or resources that provide a deeper understanding of this period in Corfu's history would be greatly appreciated.
