I am visiting Greece this summer and will be staying with people. I want to give them a gift of appreciation! Is this something that is customary? If so, what should I give? They are friends that I met on vacation once, and we kept in touch. They stayed with me for a bit a few years ago and brought some wine from Greece. They didn't have to do that but was happy they made the gesture. Any ideas besides wine?

I would look for unique wine to the US that they may not have tried. Depending on how well you know them, you can also ask them!

Literature Forum needed?

WG is a great website to discuss Greek places to travel to as well as traditions, history, and mythology. However, I think it would be a great tool for ANYbody and for HS students to learn about Greeks ancient and modern if we had a literature forum with specific references to and info about, lyrical and dramatic poets, theologians, philosophers, scientists, medical writers, historians/ethnologists, etc. // yes/no?
ALL ABOUT THE HISTORICAL GREEK [linguistic] INTELLECT, the NOUS POIETIKOS, the summit of Greek culture. // don't wait for artificial intelligence.......

Greek Wedding Traditions

I am going to be attending a wedding in Greece. What are some of the traditions I can expect? I saw online:

- Writing names of the bridal party on the bride's shoes (I am not in the bridal party)
- Decorating the bed for the bride and groom
- Or course, having the service in an orthodox church

I am sure I missed some!

Traditional Greek Outfit for Girls

How do I buy one of those really cute Greek outfits for a young girl?

I have been asking around here where I live and have some leads, but I wondered if there was an easier way. Most of the leads I have involved getting it made by hand, and that is expensive.

What to bring to church as a godparent during Christening?

I am so excited, I have just been asked to be a godmother. I know generally what is expected but I am trying to sort it all out. What is it that godparents need to bring to the Christening? I know that the priest usually provides a list but I want to start getting ahead of it. With Easter just behind us, I don't know how long it will be until I get the list. The Christening isn't for a few months, but I know that the church seems to be a bit behind and I have no idea how long it will be until I get the list!

What is dating like in Greece?

I am curious - what is dating like in Greece? The reason I ask is I have a younger cousin, college age, who is spending the whole summer in Greece.

She's been meeting Greek men over there who have been interested in her. She expressed that she is having a difficult time figuring out the right way to behave, or what to expect from the men. Any tips I can pass on to her?
