Delos looks fascinating and I will be in Mykonos this summer. Is it realistic to do this as a day trip from Mykonos?

Has anyone done this before? I'd love to hear your recommendations and tips! How long is the boat ride, and are there specific tour operators you recommend?

What are the must-see spots on Delos, and how much time should I allocate to explore the island thoroughly?

I recall it's possible to take a Ferry from Mykonos to Delos but I am not sure the details. I saw a sign for it last time I was there.

Depending on your interests and budget, it looks like there are three ways to get to Delos: via ferry, an organized tour (Viator, Get Your Guide), or a catamaran trip of two islands. The boat trip takes about a half hour and most tours are half-day. I took the ferry there years ago and it is a special historical site. Last year I went on a catamaran day trip on Milos. It was super fun, but Mykonos wouldn’t have as much nautical scenery as Milos did where the white cliffs were absolutely stunning. If you want more information, perhaps taking the organized tour would be best.

I vote for the organized tour as well. I was just on Mykonos. I didn't make it to Delos but trying to navigate through the transportation system is a little confusing. I finally found the area for the water taxis (I was trying to get to a beach) and ... I mean it just wasn't straightforward. An organized tour takes care of all these details.

Best things to do in Mykonos for Families?

I’m planning a trip to Mykonos with my family, and I’d love some tips on the best things to do that can cater to everyone. We’ve got a mix of ages—kids, adults, and grandparents—so I’m looking for activities that can offer something fun or interesting for all of us.

Of course, we’re excited about the beaches, but I’d like to know which ones are family-friendly and less crowded. Are there any cultural spots or landmarks that are a must-visit? Maybe a fun boat tour or a local food experience we could all enjoy together?

I’m also curious if there are any hidden gems off the beaten path or quieter areas where we can relax as a family.

Any advice, personal recommendations, or tips for making the most of our time in Mykonos are appreciated. Thanks so much!

Mykonos from Athens - Ferry vs Airport?

I’m planning a trip to Mykonos next summer and would love your advice on whether I should take a ferry or a flight from Athens. I’ve heard that both options have their pros and cons, but I’m struggling to decide.

For the ferry, I’ve read that it’s a scenic and more relaxed option, but how reliable is it? Are there frequent delays, especially during peak season? Also, would you recommend a high-speed ferry or the regular ones?

For the flight, I like that it’s much quicker, but I’m concerned about potential airport stress and extra transportation costs. Is it worth flying for the time saved, or do the ferry views make the journey more enjoyable?

Solo Travel Tips for Mykonos

I’m thinking about doing a little solo side trip to Mykonos and could really use some advice. I’ll be in Greece with a group this summer, but no one else seems interested in visiting Mykonos. I’ve always wanted to go, and I’m considering breaking away for a few days to explore it on my own.

For those of you who’ve been to Mykonos solo—how was the experience? Is it easy to get around without a car? Are there particular areas that feel safer or more convenient for solo travelers? I’m especially interested in good places to eat alone, safe spots to stay, and any experiences that would be fun even without a travel buddy (beaches, walking tours, etc.).

Also—any tips on staying social? I don’t mind alone time, but I wouldn’t mind meeting people either.

Thanks in advance! Would love to hear any personal stories or suggestions.

Worth going to Delos?

I’m considering doing a day trip to Delos while in Mykonos, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the time. I know it’s an important historical site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but is it really a must-visit?

For those who have been, did you find it impressive? How long did you spend exploring? I’ve heard there’s a lot of walking and not much shade—does that make it tough in the summer? Also, are the guided tours worth it, or is it better to explore on your own?

I love Greek mythology and ancient history, so I feel like it could be interesting, but I don’t want to spend half a day away from Mykonos if it’s underwhelming. Would you recommend it, or are there better things to do instead? Would love to hear opinions from people who have been!

Having Fun in Mykonos without the Crowds?

I'm thinking to go to Mykonos but have my misgivings. The thing is, I’d like to enjoy some fun bars and clubs but avoid the craziest, most over-the-top places. I’m not into wild parties where it’s hard to relax, but I still want to soak up the vibrant atmosphere Mykonos is known for.

Are there any spots that strike a nice balance? Maybe beach bars with great music and cocktails, or clubs that are lively but not overwhelming? I’d also love recommendations for places where you can meet fun people without the vibe being too intense or chaotic.

If you’ve been and have any tips, I’d really appreciate it! Looking forward to making some amazing memories while keeping things enjoyable.
