The number of tourists who visited Greece in the first seven months of the year was 4.5 million or 51.4% than a year earlier, but less than a third of the level recorded in 2019, according to Bank of Greece data! One of the first countries in the World recovering in Tourism Industry!👏👏

This is really good news, since many in Greece depend on tourism. It's not fully "back" but it's nice to see it start to rebound, given all that has happened.

That's a really high number!!! That's crazy.
Its actually a little less, but still super high in comparison to other countries. Greece is the #1 country that is dependant on tourism. "In 2018, tourism accounted for as much as 20.6 percent of the country's GDP, and 30 million tourists are said to have visited the country that year."

Hiking in Athens on Vacation

I decided that the next time I go to Greece, I want to go on a lot of walks or hikes. I know I could always meander anyplace I visit - either walk around a neighborhood or by the beach, etc. I am more interested in finding some great walks or hikes in or near Athens.

I saw that Mt. Lycabettus was recommended somewhere on this forum, and I saw that someone said to go during sunset. Is there anything else like that in or near Athens?

Nice Islands Only Accessible by Ferry

I have been interested in going a bit "off the beaten track" in Greece. I have been told that one of the things to look for are islands that don't have an airport. Off the top of your head, can you guys think of some good ones?

Some possibilities: Asypylaia, Halki, Ikaria... I feel like there could be more.

I want the island to be quiet, but still with things to do ... like beaches, maybe a museum or two, some shopping, restaurants..

Which Ancient Greek Plays Should I See Live?

I want to catch a live theater performance while in Greece this summer. There are some choices! Which Ancient Greek plays are worth seeing in general? Has anyone seen any? I know the Epidaurus theater has some performances. There's one from Aristophanes Called The Wasps that I might go to. I have never heard of it, has anyone seen it?

Spas in Athens?

I am passing through Athens in a few months – I will be in Greece for a while. I won’t be in Athens long, just a few days, and I think I want to visit a spa.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I am interested in more of like a Hamam experience, and maybe get a massage too.

I Googled some possibilities, but don't know anything about them: Hammam Baths Athens - Melidoni 1, Old City Hamam & Spa - Athanasiou Diakou 1, and Al Hammam Traditional Baths - Tripodon 16.
