Greece Island Hopping Advice?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Greece later this year and could really use some advice on island hopping logistics and itinerary ideas. I’m thinking of starting with a few days in Athens to explore the history and vibe of the city, then heading to Crete and Santorini — both have been on my list forever. I’m also hoping to add one more island to the mix (not Mykonos though).

I’d love suggestions for that “third” island — ideally something beautiful but not overly crowded, with some culture, beaches, or unique charm. I’ve heard good things about Naxos, Paros, and even Milos. Any thoughts on which might be the best fit, especially given I’ll be doing this all in about 10–12 days?
 
Your trip sounds amazing — Athens, Crete, and Santorini are a fantastic foundation for a well-rounded Greek adventure. For your third island, I’d strongly recommend Naxos. It’s the largest of the Cyclades and offers a great mix of beautiful beaches, authentic villages, ancient ruins, and fewer crowds than Santorini. Plus, it's well-connected by ferry from both Santorini and Athens, which helps with logistics.

Paros is also a solid choice if you like charming port towns and easy access to nearby Antiparos for a quick day trip. Milos is stunning with its lunar-like landscapes and lesser-known beaches — but ferry connections can be a little trickier depending on the season.

With 10–12 days, you’ll want to keep travel time between islands minimal. My advice: Athens → Crete → Santorini → Naxos → back to Athens. Let us know your travel dates — ferry schedules can vary by season!
 
Crete and Santorini were great, and hopping to Naxos felt easy with the ferries. We also found a few dog-friendly spots along the way and even checked https://staycopperrock.com for a couple of listings that let pets, which made planning stops less stressful and more relaxed.

Visiting Multiple Greek Islands Advice Needed

I’m starting to plan a longer trip to Greece and would love some advice from people who’ve done multi-island itineraries. The idea is an island-focused trip of about three weeks, moving at a comfortable pace rather than rushing through places.
