I’m planning a trip to Delphi and would love some advice from anyone who has been there. I’m particularly excited to see the archaeological site and the famous Temple of Apollo, but I’d also like to know if there are any hidden gems nearby worth exploring.

Do you have recommendations for the best times to visit to avoid crowds? Are there local guides you’d suggest? Also, I’m curious about nearby restaurants or cafes that serve authentic Greek food.

Any tips on where to stay in the area or how much time to set aside for a visit would be fantastic too. Thanks in advance!

Delphi is an incredible destination—you're in for a treat! The archaeological site and Temple of Apollo are awe-inspiring, but be sure to also explore the Tholos at the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, just a short walk away. It's less crowded but equally captivating.

To avoid the busiest times, aim to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon, especially during summer. Spring and fall are ideal seasons for fewer crowds and pleasant weather. Hiring a local guide can enrich your visit; look for certified guides through Delphi's tourism office or reputable travel websites.

For authentic Greek food, try To Patriko Mas, known for its warm atmosphere and traditional dishes. As for accommodations, consider staying in nearby Arachova—a picturesque village with cozy guesthouses and stunning mountain views. It's a great place to visit!

Recommendations on Greek Cruises?

I’m thinking about taking a cruise to explore the beautiful Greek islands, but I’m overwhelmed by all the options out there! I’d love some recommendations for Greek cruises that offer a mix of stunning scenery, cultural experiences, and authentic Greek food.

I’m particularly interested in smaller cruise lines or ships that give you more time to explore the islands, especially places like Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, and maybe some of the lesser-known islands. Are there cruises that include unique experiences like local cooking classes, wine tastings, or guided historical tours?

Also, I’m curious if anyone has tips on the best time of year to go, what to look for in a cruise line, or any “must-see” stops that I shouldn’t miss.

What does contemporary fine dining look like in Greece?

I’m planning a trip to Greece and, while I love traditional Greek food, I’m also curious about the modern fine dining scene. I know Greece has a deep culinary heritage, but I’ve heard that some chefs are taking classic flavors and giving them a contemporary twist.

For those who have experienced it, what does fine dining in Greece look like today? Are there any standout restaurants or chefs redefining Greek cuisine? Is it more focused on Michelin-starred establishments, or are there also smaller, innovative spots worth checking out?

I’m particularly interested in tasting dishes that blend tradition with modern techniques, maybe something with a creative take on seafood, local ingredients, or Greek wines. Any recommendations for restaurants in Athens, Thessaloniki, or the islands?

Would love to hear about your experiences and must-try dishes! Thanks in advance.

Good Greek Mainland Destinations to Stay At?

Hey all, I am wondering if there are any good places to stay in Mainland Greece that are beyond Athens. I’ve done the typical island-hopping thing before, but I feel like the mainland is full of gems that often get overlooked. I’d love recommendations for towns or regions that are beautiful, culturally rich, and good for staying a few days.

I’m into history, local food, and scenic views, and I would also love a nice area nearby with restaurants and cafes. I’ve heard good things about Nafplio and Metsovo, but I’m open to all suggestions—whether it’s coastal, mountain, or something totally off the radar.

Greece Island Hopping Advice?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Greece later this year and could really use some advice on island hopping logistics and itinerary ideas. I’m thinking of starting with a few days in Athens to explore the history and vibe of the city, then heading to Crete and Santorini — both have been on my list forever. I’m also hoping to add one more island to the mix (not Mykonos though).

I’d love suggestions for that “third” island — ideally something beautiful but not overly crowded, with some culture, beaches, or unique charm. I’ve heard good things about Naxos, Paros, and even Milos. Any thoughts on which might be the best fit, especially given I’ll be doing this all in about 10–12 days?

Getting Money from ATMs in Greece?

I have a friend who just came back from Greece and she told me she had issues using the ATM machines.

I have never had a problem, but I am curious as to what is going on.

Does anyone know why her ATM card, which works int he US, might not have worked in Greece? It is making me wonder if I need to also do something with my bank before I go to Greece again.

She said the machine kept giving her an error that said it wouldn't work because the card wasn't hooked up to a savings account?
