Does anyone know how old I have to be to rent a car in Greece? I've never actually done it before but I've heard you have to pay a bit more if you're under 25. Is this true for all rental car companies in Greece? Or are there some that allow younger drivers. I am 23. Thanks

Great question!

I just looked it up and it appears that people must be 21 years or older to rent a car in Greece:

I would like to add that some companies require an international driver's license, which you could get at AAA fairly inexpensively in the US before you leave for your trip.

Athens, Rhodes and Milos among the 20 best holiday destinations in Europe in 2023!

Always inspiring and informative editorials from the Tornos team!.... Athens in my opinion has just only just become popular in the past 20 years or so! ...... Now I remember Rhodes being a preferred destination 50 years ago when I began working in Tourism from good ol'London town!..... Milos is a new kid on the block!..... Fabulous breathtakingly beautiful beaches!

Hiking in Athens on Vacation

I decided that the next time I go to Greece, I want to go on a lot of walks or hikes. I know I could always meander anyplace I visit - either walk around a neighborhood or by the beach, etc. I am more interested in finding some great walks or hikes in or near Athens.

I saw that Mt. Lycabettus was recommended somewhere on this forum, and I saw that someone said to go during sunset. Is there anything else like that in or near Athens?

Best Kythira Beaches

I am continuing my research of Kythira and I thought I would make a list of a few beaches to visit. I wonder if those of you who know the island can weigh in:
  • Kapsali Beach
  • Chalkos Beach
  • Kaladi Beach
  • Diakofti Beach
  • Platia Amos Beach
I like relaxing beaches with great scenery - they don't need to have nearby services necessarily, but I like it when they do.

How long to spend in Athens?

I am trying to decide how long to be in Athens. I have some people to visit, I want to do some of the city walks (Lycabettus, Philopappou), and I also want to visit some of the sites. I have visited most of the sites in the past, so I am not going to go too crazy here. My goal for Greece is to relax, visit people, making go to a beach of two. I am thinking of picking a good island with beaches and spending maybe 5 nights at this island, and then possibly spending the rest of the time in Athens. I am trying to decide if I will spend 3 weeks or more in Greece this summer. I think two weeks in Athens sounds like a lot, but on the other hand, I love to just pick one or two spots and really enjoy them during my time in Greece, rather than travel all around and get exhausted. What do you think?

Things to Do in Rhodes Town

While on Rhodes over the summer, I decided to use Rhodes Town as a home base. I am researching fun things to do. I know about the usual things to see - the Knights of Saint John, Acropolis of Lindos, the old town area, and some museums.

What I am looking for are suggestions for things that are other outside of the box, or specific recommendations that personally meant a lot to you or that you enjoyed. I am so looking forward to this trip and I want t get the most of it!
