Wow, this is such a special find! It looks different, but at the same time, it doesn't....

Can you imagine the chariots, horses, battles all those thousands of years ago and how the Parthenon would be a fortress?.......

It looks so much more peaceful, although I love the hustle and bustle of Athens. It's beautiful to see the old architecture and landscape standing alone

That's even further back than the time in this image! I wonder what it looked like then ahah

Great Restaurants to Try in Athens?

I will have a few nights in Athens to enjoy the city. I love Greek food! I am making a list of restaurants I want to try or have been recommended to me. Anything to add or subtract?

  • Aleria Restaurant (was told this was higher end)
  • O Thanasis (Gyros and souvlaki)
  • 360 Cocktail Bar (for food and nightlife)
  • Granada
The gyro place listed I thought might be a good lunch choice, and I plan to enjoy some nightlife at least one of the nights.

Piraeus Archaeological Museum

I am going to spending some time in the Piraeus area for a night or so this fall before boarding a ferry. I decided to stay closer to the port rather than in the center of Athens. I noticed that there was a museum in Piraeus! Is this worth visiting? I have never heard of it. I imagine it maybe would have artifacts from nearby digs?

Athens airport question...

There's a group of us going to Athens and our flights get in the same day, but at different times.

Is there an easy spot to wait for the rest of our group outside of security, like a cafe or restaurant, or even an area with chairs to sit... I have only been to this airport once, and I don't remember any details about what happens after security.

List of Things to Do in Piraeus

I am staying in Piraeus for a few nights while waiting to board a ship. Thought I'd brainstorm some things to do:

- Take a day cruise to one of the local islands - like Aegina
- Take public transport to the Plaka area and maybe even see the Parthenon again - I have done this so many times but I love it
- Maybe rent a car to explore around on my own? Do something like head to Sounion for the Temple of Poseidon and visit the beach that's there?

What would you guys do if you were me?
