I’ll be visiting Rhodes this summer, possibly in late July or August, and I’d love to do some hiking while I’m there. I know Rhodes has some beautiful landscapes, but I’m looking for recommendations on the best trails, especially ones with great views or historical significance.

Are there any must-do hikes that offer stunning coastal views, forested areas, or interesting ruins along the way? I’d also love to hear about any hidden gems that aren’t too crowded.

Since it’ll be quite hot, I’m wondering if there are any trails with some shade or ones that are best done early in the morning or late afternoon. Also, are there any hikes that end near a beach where I could cool off with a swim?

have a look at earlier post " advice for hiking on Rhodes "

Rhodes is a fantastic place for hiking, with a great mix of coastal views, forested trails, and historical sites. Given the summer heat, early morning or late afternoon hikes are best, and trails with some shade will make the experience more comfortable.

One must-do hike is Profitis Ilias, a beautiful forested trail that offers shade and stunning views from the top. It’s a moderate hike and takes you through an area rich in pine and cypress trees.

For coastal scenery, Monolithos Castle is a great choice. The hike up is short but rewarding, with breathtaking views over the Aegean.

If you're looking for something with a mix of history and nature, Tsambika Mountain offers incredible panoramic views, and the nearby beach is perfect for cooling off after the climb.

Another great place is Akramitis Mountain, a quieter alternative to Profitis Ilias, with both shaded paths and incredible summit views.

the only way to profit ilias is on a tarmac road .Because of the landsape there is no trail .The last part to get to tsambika is up & down 300 steps

Be aware there are other places called Profit Ilias on Rhodes . For Example near Faliraki & Pefkos

Most relaxing beaches on Rhodes?

I could use some updated advice. When I sit at the beach, I don’t want it to be crazy—I’m looking for calm, quiet, and a bit of space to breathe. I just found out in another thread that some of the beaches I was considering for my upcoming trip to Rhodes have changed a lot over the years—apparently some are way more crowded or developed now than they used to be.

Does anyone have recommendations for truly relaxing beaches on the island? I don’t need beach bars or party vibes—just clear water, a peaceful atmosphere, and preferably not packed with sunbeds wall to wall. A little taverna nearby would be a bonus, but I’m happy packing my own lunch too.

Are there any spots that still feel a bit under the radar, or at least mellow during certain times of day? I’d really appreciate any suggestions from recent visitors.

Traditional Dishes to Try While on Rhodes?

I’ll be visiting Rhodes this summer, and I can’t wait to explore the island’s food scene! I know Greek cuisine is amazing, but I’d love to try local dishes that are unique to Rhodes.

Are there any must-try specialties that I shouldn’t miss? I’ve heard about pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) and lakani (a slow-cooked meat dish), but I’d love more recommendations—whether it’s seafood, traditional meze, or local desserts.

Also, if you have any restaurant or taverna recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! I want to experience authentic, home-style cooking rather than just touristy spots. Bonus points if it’s by the sea with a great view!

Looking forward to your tips and suggestions—thanks in advance!

Ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Rhodes soon and while I’m excited for the beaches and historical sites, I’d also love to connect with the natural side of the island. I know Rhodes is more than just medieval walls and crystal-clear water—so I’m wondering:

What are your favorite ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Are there any scenic hikes, quiet walking trails, or nature reserves you’d recommend? I’ve heard of places like the Valley of the Butterflies and Seven Springs, but I’m open to hidden gems too—lush areas, mountain drives, peaceful beaches off the beaten path, or even botanical gardens or scenic outlooks.

I’m not necessarily looking for adrenaline adventures—just ways to unwind and take in the island’s natural beauty.
