Yes indeed, additional precautions necessary at all times especially visiting any outdoor archeological and cultural sites,I remember when I used to visit Delos regularly,it was unbearable, always feeling for my lovely tour guides who had go around the sites, sometimes 3/4 times in that blistering heat!

Staying Near Athens by the Beach?

I'm planning a trip to Greece and will be spending some time in Athens, but I'm also looking to stay somewhere outside of the city that’s near the beach. I’m hoping to find a place that offers a more relaxed atmosphere, where I can unwind by the sea while still having access to some local culture and attractions.

Does anyone have recommendations for coastal towns or beach resorts within a reasonable distance from Athens? Ideally, I’m looking for somewhere that’s not too crowded but still has good restaurants, maybe some historical sites, and, of course, beautiful beaches.

I've heard about places like Sounio, Porto Rafti, and Glyfada—are these good options? Any specific areas or hotels you would suggest? Also, how easy is it to travel back to Athens for day trips if I decide to stay outside the city? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Time of year to visit Greece?

The tourist season for this year has been over and it's been a while since I've gone. I want to take my family. When is the best time to go? My kids are home schooled so I don't have to worry about that. I’ve heard different opinions depending on the season, so I’m a bit torn. Summer seems to be popular for island hopping and beach days, but I’m worried about the crowds and high prices. On the other hand, spring and fall sound appealing for fewer tourists and pleasant weather, but I’m not sure if everything is open or if I’d miss out on anything special. Winter is also an option, though I know it’s the off-season.

For those who have been to Greece during different times of the year, when would you recommend visiting and why? I’d appreciate any tips or insights!

Travelling to Corfu, summer 2025

Hi there

I'm travelling to Corfu, spending a month there in summer 2025. I wondered if I might be able to connect with anyone else with similar plans (male or female, any age) as while I'm excited about the opportunity to explore on my own and do a lot of much-needed reflection on my trip, meeting other like-minded travellers is never a bad idea!

Also, if anyone has any tips about Paleokasistra, or might be heading to Corfu next summer, I'd love to hear from you.

Please do reach out.
