I could use some updated advice. When I sit at the beach, I don’t want it to be crazy—I’m looking for calm, quiet, and a bit of space to breathe. I just found out in another thread that some of the beaches I was considering for my upcoming trip to Rhodes have changed a lot over the years—apparently some are way more crowded or developed now than they used to be.

Does anyone have recommendations for truly relaxing beaches on the island? I don’t need beach bars or party vibes—just clear water, a peaceful atmosphere, and preferably not packed with sunbeds wall to wall. A little taverna nearby would be a bonus, but I’m happy packing my own lunch too.

Are there any spots that still feel a bit under the radar, or at least mellow during certain times of day? I’d really appreciate any suggestions from recent visitors.

look for Limni & Fourni beaches.google maps will have directions & photos

If you’re craving peace and quiet on Rhodes, there are still a few beautiful beaches that feel calm and under the radar.
  • Try Agios Georgios on the west coast—very remote and great for solitude.
  • Plimiri Beach in the south is also quiet, with soft sand and clear water.
  • Vlicha Beach, just south of Lindos, tends to be relaxed, especially in the morning, and the water is great for swimming.
For the most tranquil vibe, go early in the day or later in the afternoon, and skip the main beach bars. Packing your own lunch is a great call. These aren’t totally secret spots, but they’re far less hectic than the north coast or resort-heavy beaches. Enjoy your time!

sorry but Agios Georgios beach is NOT on the west coast .It is to be found near St Marks church on the way to Kattavia almost on the southern tip of rhodes Plimiri Beach is NOT quiet .there is an inclusive hotel near by & they have sun beds on the beach .
Vlicha. You are having a laugh. there are several all inclusive hotels there with many sun beds on the beach. Plus private villas close by

I know these places Very well I have lived on Rhodes 16 years & seen many changes over that time .Sadly all beaches have changed & not to the good .

Re Agios Georgios. the road to Agios Georgios church is a dirt / gravel road .From the church to the beach is on soft deep sand .OK with a 4x4 vehicle .NOT recommend by car .Hire companies would not like you going there. Plus insurance will be invalid .I did read years ago of a motor cyclist getting stuck .

wild life on afantou beach

have been there today .Near sundalia cafe there are now lots ducks , moorhens & 1 grey heron

Can You Walk the City Walls in Rhodes?

I’m starting to plan a visit to Rhodes and keep seeing photos of the medieval Old Town walls, which made me wonder how accessible they actually are. I know the city walls are a major part of Rhodes’ history, but I’m curious about the practical side of visiting them.

Can you actually walk along the city walls, or are they mostly something you admire from below? If walking is possible, are there specific entrances or sections that are open to the public? I’m also wondering how long it takes and whether it feels more like a short stroll or a full, immersive walk.

For those who’ve done it, is it worth prioritizing? Are there good viewpoints from the walls, or parts that stand out more than others? I’d love to hear what the experience is like and whether it’s something you’d recommend fitting into a first visit to Rhodes.
