I was asked today by a british couple about moving post brexit. It is extremely difficult.first you have the 90 day rule meaning you have to leave after 3 months. So In that time , you have to either find a landlord willing to give a contract or purchase a property. To do the latter you must employ a greek lawyer & a greek accountant.then you can apply for a biometric residents card ( mine took 2 months & many visits to the greek police.you need the card to apply for a greek driving licence. ( you cannot drive long term on a UK licence ) . Once yoy reach 76 you cannot rent a car . Also need the card to apply for IKA book.that entitles you to health care.proof of address is required to get a phone line & broadband.you also need a contract or property deeds to get water & electric supply.a landlord may already have those & you will get the bills from them .
I am so gratefull I moved before Brexit.

another expense is getting UK bank statements translated into greek.needed to apply for residents bio metric card. that was not cheap@ 180 euros.

I moved to Rhodes last year and can relate to some of this. Finding a decent long-term rental took longer than expected, but once I connected with the right people locally, it got easier. If you’re bringing a lot of stuff, I used residential movers who knew the process and local logistics pretty well—it took a load off my plate, especially with customs and ferry schedules being a bit unpredictable.

Local wines to try in Rhodes?

I’m starting to gather ideas for a possible late fall trip to Rhodes and one thing I’d really love to explore is the local wine. I’m Greek and have been to Greece many times, but never to Rhodes, so I’m not familiar with the island’s wine scene at all.

I’ve read that Rhodes has a long tradition of winemaking and that certain villages, like Embonas, are known for their vineyards. Are there particular grape varieties or labels I should look for? Any local favorites that don’t make it to the mainland but are worth seeking out while I’m there?

I’d also love to know if there are wineries that offer tastings or tours in the fall, and whether that’s a good season for visiting vineyards in Rhodes.

If you’ve had wine in Rhodes that made an impression, I’d be grateful for your recommendations!
