I’m heading to Santorini for three days on my next trip, and I want to make the most of my time there! Since it's a short visit, I’d love recommendations on the absolute must-see sights and experiences that I shouldn’t miss.

Of course, I plan to catch at least one famous Oia sunset, but beyond that, I’m torn between exploring villages like Pyrgos or Megalochori, hiking from Fira to Oia, or doing a caldera boat tour to the volcano and hot springs. Are these worth it, or would you prioritize something else?

I also love good food and wine, so if you have restaurant recommendations for authentic Greek meals or a winery with an amazing view, I’m all ears!

Basically, if you had only three days, what would be your top experiences? Any hidden gems or tips for making the most of my time? Looking forward to your suggestions!

If I had only three days in Santorini, I’d focus on a mix of breathtaking views, unique experiences, and amazing food!
  • Day 1: Start with the Fira to Oia hike in the morning—it’s stunning and lets you take in the caldera views at a slower pace. Relax in Oia afterward, explore its charming streets, and end the day with the famous sunset.
  • Day 2: Take a caldera boat tour—it’s totally worth it! Hiking the volcano, swimming in the hot springs, and sailing around the island give you a unique perspective of Santorini.
  • Day 3: Explore Pyrgos for a quieter, traditional vibe and visit Santo Wines for a tasting with a fantastic view. For food, try Metaxi Mas (amazing Greek cuisine in Exo Gonia) and Ammoudi Fish Tavern for fresh seafood by the water.
Hidden gem: The sunset from Skaros Rock in Imerovigli—less crowded but just as magical!

My post-grad girls trip to Santorini was absolutely unforgettable. We started our mornings at Galini Café—sipping coffee with the most breathtaking caldera views. Afternoons were for soaking up the sun at Perissa Beach, where the black sand and chill atmosphere were just perfect. Watching the sunset from Amoudi Bay over a seaside dinner felt straight out of a dream. And wine tasting at Santo Wines? Stunning views, delicious wines, and the best way to toast to summer. I put together this Santorini itinerary to make the most of our time—it might be helpful if you're planning your own island adventure!

How many days in enough is Santorini?

I’ve been to Santorini before and absolutely loved it—but this time, I’m going back with friends who have never been. We’re planning a bit of an island-hopping trip, and I’m trying to figure out how many days we should dedicate to Santorini without feeling rushed, but also leaving time for other islands.

I remember there’s a lot to enjoy even just soaking in the views, but I also don’t want them to miss out on the key experiences—Oia sunsets, the hike from Fira to Oia, maybe a winery, and some beach time. We’re not big into overly scheduled days, more go-with-the-flow types.

What would you recommend for first-timers? Is 2 full days enough to get the full experience, or is 3–4 ideal? Would love to hear how long others stayed and whether you felt it was just right or too short!

Can I Rent a Car on Santorini?

I’m planning a trip to Santorini, and I’ve heard mixed opinions about renting a car on the island. I’d love to know if it’s a good idea to rent a car there, or if it’s better to rely on public transportation or taxis.

I’m especially curious about how easy it is to drive on the island. Are the roads safe and well-marked? Are there areas where parking is particularly difficult, like in Oia or Fira?

Honestly, I had heard that getting a rental car on Santorini could be tricky because of the rules on the island? Is this even an option?

Santorini All Set for Summer?

I’ve been thinking about a summer trip to Santorini, but I’ve heard about the earthquake activity on the island. From what I’ve read, it seems like the situation is under control now, and things are stable—but I wanted to check in with folks who are either there or more in the loop.

Has anyone been to Santorini recently or heard any updates from locals or travel experts? Are businesses open and preparing for the usual summer rush? I know the island depends heavily on tourism, so I imagine they’re working hard to get everything ready.

Worst season ever’: How things got ugly on Greece’s ‘Instagram island’

Below is an extract from the article!(Not my opinion which I will write at the end of season)
"When evening comes, however, the crowds melt away, and some complain the island goes from Times Square to ghost town.
'The island is empty’
The truth is that the island is empty. Right now is like never before, it’s the worst season ever
The problem is that the social media are showing something completely different from what is the reality,” he says.
However, when the crowds are gone, “the hotels right now are more or less under 30% of a normal season,” he claims, and says that other businesses on the island are taking a similar hit".

Staying Somewhere Quiet in Santorini?

I’m planning a trip to Santorini and am looking for recommendations on where to stay. I’ve heard a lot about how busy Oia and Fira can get, especially during peak season, so I’d love to find a quieter spot where I can really relax.

I don’t need to be right by the famous caldera views, though a nice view would still be a bonus. I’m more interested in peaceful surroundings, fewer crowds, and maybe a charming village vibe.

Has anyone stayed in places like Pyrgos, Megalochori, or somewhere else that might fit the bill? Any specific accommodations you’d recommend?

I’d really appreciate any tips or advice from those who’ve been to Santorini. Thanks so much!
