I’m planning a trip to Corfu soon and I’m hoping to rely mostly on public transportation to get around the island. I’ve read that the bus system is fairly extensive, but I’m a bit unsure about how easy it is to navigate, especially when visiting more remote areas or smaller villages.

Can anyone share tips on how to effectively use public buses in Corfu? Are there specific apps or websites that are particularly helpful for checking schedules and routes? Also, any advice on how reliable the service is, particularly during peak tourist season?

Also, if there are any other forms of public transport worth considering, I’d love to hear about those as well. I want to avoid renting a car if possible, so any insights on getting around the island efficiently that would help me.

I am trying to decide if I want to rent a car.,

Thanks in advance!

Corfu’s public bus system, especially the Green Buses, is quite extensive and reliable, covering most parts of the island, including many smaller villages. For navigating the system, I recommend downloading the Corfu Green Buses app or visiting their website, which provides up-to-date schedules and route information. The buses are generally on time, but during peak tourist season, they can get crowded, so plan ahead and aim to travel during non-peak hours if possible.

While buses are the primary public transport option, consider using taxis or bike rentals for more flexibility in remote areas. If you’re comfortable with the bus schedules, you can definitely manage without renting a car. However, a car might offer more freedom, especially if you plan to explore off-the-beaten-path spots.
