These photos are from the bakery across the street from my home. I didn't know what I wanted for breakfast, so I took some pics for my wife to help

These are some loukoumathes (also my favorite) I bought from a panigiri festival just outside of my house last year.

I love going to the bakery. I always get zamponotiropita (ham and cheese pie) when I go to the bakery.

Yes but I currently live in Australia so I can't get out of the country. I have booked in my second vaccination for next week so I'm all ready to go when borders open again. I love Athens and live centrally when I go there. I can't wait to get back, walk down the streets of Athens and take in the sights and smells of the Athenian spring and summer. I expect that I will be able to travel next year and then I'll be going every year after that.

Do you go often or do you live there?

I wish I lived there! I live in Tennessee but my family is Armenian. I have a few family members living in Greece and they speak so highly of it. I've only been a few times but I would love to go back, especially Athens :) I hope you're able to visit Greece again soon, if not this year then the next for sure!!

The Stavros Niarchos center is a great place to take the kids

The Stavros Niarchos cultural center is a great place to bring kids and the family. The architecture is amazing and there is a beautiful area to walk outside and enjoy the nature and views. The center is known for sustainability and innovation, and even has its own sustainability hub. There are multiple exhibitions going on throughout the year that showcase Greek Culture and modern and historical art. Here is the link to the foundation https://www.snfcc.org/en

Cape Sounion is a beautiful destination near Athens

Cape Sounion is a beach that is south of Athens, known for its beautiful hotels and luxury restaurants. I've attended so many weddings in the area, as it is one of the most popular destinations for families that live in the Athens or mainland area. One of the best parts of the area is that you can catch a great view of the Temple of Poseidon, here is what it looks like:

What time of the year is the best to visit Athens?

According to the forum, many people recommend that I don’t visit Athens during August, because many of the locals have gone on vacation and the city is pretty empty. That being said… when is the best time to visit? I am definitely interested in seeing the acropolis and the museums, but I am wondering when the best time of year is to see the city life.

May Day in 2022?

Hi! I will be in Athens for a few days soon, including May Day (Sunday) and May 2nd (observed). I've read about and seen videos of the strikes that happen, including trains and ferries not operating. I'm planning to visit Hydra one of those two days. Since May Day is on a Sunday this year, is it more likely that transportation via ferry will be stopped on May 1st or the observed day May 2nd?

Thank you kindly for any thoughts you can give!
