Hey everyone! I’m thinking of renting a scooter to get around Mykonos and would love some advice from those who’ve done it. I’ve heard that it’s a popular way to explore the island, but I’m curious about the practical side. How easy is it to find scooter rentals, and are there any companies you’d recommend?

Also, how’s the traffic and parking situation? I know Mykonos can get pretty busy, especially in peak season, so I’d like to know if a scooter makes it easier to navigate the crowds and find parking near popular spots.

Lastly, any tips on safety? I’m used to driving a scooter, but I want to make sure I’m prepared for local road conditions. Would appreciate any insights on what to expect—thanks in advance for any advice!

Renting a scooter in Mykonos is a fantastic way to explore the island. Scooters are widely available, with plenty of rental options in Mykonos Town and near popular beaches like Paradise and Super Paradise. Companies like MotoSpeed and Mykonos Scooter Rental are well-reviewed, but I'd recommend booking in advance during peak season.

Traffic can be hectic, especially around Mykonos Town, but a scooter definitely helps you zip through crowded areas and park easily, even near busy spots. Parking can still be tricky in high-traffic zones, so aim for early morning or late afternoon to avoid the busiest times.

For safety, stick to main roads where possible; some smaller roads are narrow and uneven. Always wear a helmet and stay aware of larger vehicles—Mykonos drivers can be fast!

Worth going to Delos?

I’m considering doing a day trip to Delos while in Mykonos, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the time. I know it’s an important historical site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but is it really a must-visit?

For those who have been, did you find it impressive? How long did you spend exploring? I’ve heard there’s a lot of walking and not much shade—does that make it tough in the summer? Also, are the guided tours worth it, or is it better to explore on your own?

I love Greek mythology and ancient history, so I feel like it could be interesting, but I don’t want to spend half a day away from Mykonos if it’s underwhelming. Would you recommend it, or are there better things to do instead? Would love to hear opinions from people who have been!

Is Delos Worth a Day Trip?

I’ll be spending a week in Mykonos soon and was wondering if a day trip to Delos is worth it. I’ve always been intrigued by its history as a sacred island and its connection to Greek mythology, not to mention the ruins I’ve seen in photos look incredible.

Since it’s so close to Mykonos, it seems like an easy trip, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been there. Are the archaeological sites as impressive in person as they seem? How much time do you realistically need to explore the island without feeling rushed?

Also, is it better to book a guided tour or just go solo? Any tips on the best way to get there and what to bring?

Any good hikes in Mykonos?

I love the beach, but I might need a break one of the days I plan to be in Mykonos. My travel plans are still not solidified so I am not 100% sure I am even going this year, but I wanted to gather information anyway.

I’ve heard there might be some scenic trails or quieter spots that most tourists miss. Does anyone know of good hikes with great views, especially around sunrise or sunset, that aren’t super crowded? Ideally, something 1–3 hours long, moderate difficulty, and with interesting landscapes (like hidden coves, old windmills, or Mediterranean scrub). Bonus if there’s a nice taverna or beach at the end where I can grab a drink or snack.

If I go, I’ll have a rental car or scooter, so getting to trailheads shouldn’t be a problem. You can recommend them off the beaten track for sure - that's actually what I am looking for...

What's the Beach in Mykonos?

I visited Mykonos a few years ago and had the most amazing time—but now I’m trying to plan a return trip, and I can’t for the life of me remember the name of one particular beach I loved.

It had a relaxed vibe, not too crazy with the party scene, and there was a taverna right on the beach that served grilled fish and wine. I remember the sand was soft, the water was crystal clear, and it wasn’t packed like Paradise or Super Paradise. I think there might’ve been sunbeds, but it still felt low-key and not too commercial.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Maybe Ornos? Agios Ioannis? Or could it have been Agios Sostis? I wish I had taken better notes, ha!

If you’ve been to Mykonos recently and have suggestions for chill beaches with great food nearby, I’d love to hear your favorites too. Thanks in advance!
