I'm planning a trip to Rhodes and, as a passionate foodie, I'm eager to explore the island's culinary delights. I'd love to hear your recommendations on the best way to experience Rhodes' food scene.

Are there any must-visit taverns or restaurants where I can taste authentic local dishes? I'd also appreciate suggestions for food tours or cooking classes that offer a hands-on experience with traditional Rhodesian cuisine.

Additionally, I'm interested in discovering local markets where I can find fresh produce, unique ingredients, and maybe even some hidden gems. If you've been to Rhodes and have any tips on where to go for the best food experiences, please share!

Hello It would help if you say where on Rhodes you are staying ,to suggest tavernas. the Only local market on Rhodes is on the outskirts of rhodes town on wednesays & saturdays til 13.00 hours. Its mostly fresh frut & veg Plus one stall selling fresh fish .Sometimes there are materials to be bought.

Rhodes is a paradise for food lovers! For an authentic experience, I'd recommend visiting Ta Kardasia in the Old Town for traditional Rhodian dishes like pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) and fresh seafood. Taverna Kostas in Lindos is another gem, offering local favorites in a cozy setting.

For a hands-on experience, check out the Rhodes Culinary Cooking Class. It's a fantastic way to learn how to prepare traditional recipes using fresh, local ingredients. Don’t miss the New Market in Rhodes Town, where you’ll find a variety of fresh produce, spices, and local delicacies.

Exploring local food festivals, like the Honey and Olive Festival, can also give you a unique taste of the island’s culinary culture.

No fresh produce in The New Market .Only tourist shops, many jewelers & a few tavernas .Oh , & statis cafe where I go for drinks.

Tips for Visiting the Rhodes Jewish Quarter

Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip to Rhodes and really want to explore the Jewish Quarter in the Old Town. I’ve heard it’s small but full of history, and I’d love to make the most of the visit.

If you’ve been, do you have any tips? Are there guided tours available, or is it better to explore on your own? I’m particularly interested in visiting the Kahal Shalom Synagogue and the Jewish Museum — how much time should I set aside for those?

Also, any interesting stories or historical context that really added depth to your visit? I’m trying to balance learning about the history with just soaking in the atmosphere.

Bonus points if you have any nearby spots for a coffee or bite to eat afterward!

Would appreciate any insights or suggestions — especially from anyone who’s visited recently. Thanks so much!

Best beaches on Rhodes for snorkeling?

I'm considering a family trip to Rhodes and am curious about the best beaches for snorkeling. I've heard that Anthony Quinn Bay is a top spot, known for its clear waters and marine life. Kallithea Springs also comes up frequently, praised for its underwater scenery. For families, Tsambika Beach is mentioned as having gentle slopes into the sea, making it suitable for children. Agathi Beach is noted for its calm, shallow waters and sandy bottom, ideal for kids and beginners. Glystra Beach is another family-friendly option, with clear waters and a small rock island that's great for snorkeling.

Has anyone snorkeled at these beaches or have other recommendations? I'm looking for spots that are both exciting for snorkeling and safe for children. Any tips on equipment rental or guided tours would also be appreciated!

30 November 2024 storm on Rhodes

In a few hours a month of rain fell on Rhodes. Caused a lot of damage all over the island. Weather reports were sent to mobile phones. Today traffic movement is prohibited

Traditional Dishes to Try While on Rhodes?

I’ll be visiting Rhodes this summer, and I can’t wait to explore the island’s food scene! I know Greek cuisine is amazing, but I’d love to try local dishes that are unique to Rhodes.

Are there any must-try specialties that I shouldn’t miss? I’ve heard about pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) and lakani (a slow-cooked meat dish), but I’d love more recommendations—whether it’s seafood, traditional meze, or local desserts.

Also, if you have any restaurant or taverna recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! I want to experience authentic, home-style cooking rather than just touristy spots. Bonus points if it’s by the sea with a great view!

Looking forward to your tips and suggestions—thanks in advance!
