I'm planning a trip to the Peloponnese, and I'm debating whether it’s worth stopping in Corinth on my way there. Has anyone made a similar trip? If so, could you share your experiences?

I'm particularly interested in:
  • Historical Sites: Are the ancient ruins and historical sites in Corinth worth visiting?
  • Scenic Views: Is the Corinth Canal as impressive in person as it looks in pictures?
  • Local Culture: What’s the vibe of the town like? Any local shops or markets worth checking out?
  • Travel Tips: Are there any specific recommendations or things I should be
Thanks in advance!

Corinth is definitely worth a stop on your trip to the Peloponnese.

Historical Sites: The ancient ruins, including the Temple of Apollo and Acrocorinth, are fascinating and rich with history.

Scenic Views: The Corinth Canal is impressive and offers stunning views. It's a unique engineering marvel that’s worth seeing in person.

Local Culture: The town has a charming vibe with friendly locals. Check out local shops and the central market for authentic souvenirs and fresh produce.

Travel Tips: Wear comfortable shoes for exploring the ruins and consider a boat tour through the canal for a unique perspective. Don’t miss the local tavernas for delicious Greek cuisine.

July 2024 sets a record as the hottest month in Greece's recorded history!

Yes indeed, additional precautions necessary at all times especially visiting any outdoor archeological and cultural sites,I remember when I used to visit Delos regularly,it was unbearable, always feeling for my lovely tour guides who had go around the sites, sometimes 3/4 times in that blistering heat!

Travelling to Corfu, summer 2025

Hi there

I'm travelling to Corfu, spending a month there in summer 2025. I wondered if I might be able to connect with anyone else with similar plans (male or female, any age) as while I'm excited about the opportunity to explore on my own and do a lot of much-needed reflection on my trip, meeting other like-minded travellers is never a bad idea!

Also, if anyone has any tips about Paleokasistra, or might be heading to Corfu next summer, I'd love to hear from you.

Please do reach out.

Greece to tax cruise ship arrivals to protect popular islands from overtourism!

My my,there is also another tax in Pireaus for docking of cruise ships, hasn't the landscape of Tourism Industry changed?!..I like that bit 'To protect the islands!'Now I wander how charging would 'protect the islands'?!🤣... Just the other day Mykonos had 8 cruise ships docked simultaneously with no over crowding!!....so stated the Mayor!🤣🤣The sadest,as always about this is ask anyone who works day in day out if they are rewarded directly for their efforts, especially in the islands which are extortionately costly for the workers for living and accommodation expenses!

Best Islands to Visit - First Time?

It has been so long since it's been my first time in Greece, I didn't know how to answer this. I have a friend who asked.

With so many options, I’m hoping to get some advice on which islands are the best to visit for first-time travelers. My friend is looking for a mix of stunning beaches, charming villages, historical sites, and that classic Greek island vibe.

I was debating whether to tell her some main ones like Mykonos or Santorini or take her off the beaten path? Or do a bit of both? She has about two weeks to travel.
