I’m thinking about doing a little solo side trip to Mykonos and could really use some advice. I’ll be in Greece with a group this summer, but no one else seems interested in visiting Mykonos. I’ve always wanted to go, and I’m considering breaking away for a few days to explore it on my own.

For those of you who’ve been to Mykonos solo—how was the experience? Is it easy to get around without a car? Are there particular areas that feel safer or more convenient for solo travelers? I’m especially interested in good places to eat alone, safe spots to stay, and any experiences that would be fun even without a travel buddy (beaches, walking tours, etc.).

Also—any tips on staying social? I don’t mind alone time, but I wouldn’t mind meeting people either.

Thanks in advance! Would love to hear any personal stories or suggestions.

I did a solo trip to Mykonos and absolutely loved it! It’s super walkable in the main town (Chora), and the local bus system is reliable for getting to beaches like Platis Gialos or Paradise.

I stayed near Fabrika Square—really central and felt totally safe. For solo dining, check out places like Nikos Taverna or Kiki’s Tavern (worth the wait!). Beach clubs like Scorpios and Nammos are lively if you're up for a splurge, but quieter beaches like Agios Sostis are great for solo chill time.

Definitely do a walking tour of Chora—it’s a great way to learn the island’s history and meet people. You can also check out local cooking classes or sailing trips to Delos.

My tip for staying social? Sit at bar-style tables, join group tours, and say hi—you’d be surprised how many other solo travelers are out there too. I always meet people this way when I travel on my own.

I started small with short online classes and then tried certifications: $2,000 – $2,500 1 to 6 months, which really helped me feel more confident working with clients. The upfront cost felt big at first, but it paid off once I began earning steady commissions and building repeat business. The combo of flexible study options and solid income potential made the path feel pretty doable for me.

Mykonos can be a great place for solo travel, especially in summer when everything feels lively and welcoming. It is easy to get around by bus and taxi, so a car is not necessary. Staying near Mykonos Town makes walking to restaurants and shops simple. Many cafes and beach clubs are comfortable for solo visitors. Booking a small group tour or boat trip is also a good way to meet people while still enjoying independence.

Is Mykonos Worth Visiting Outside of Peak Summer?

I’m curious to hear people’s experiences with Mykonos outside of peak summer. Most of what you see online focuses on July and August, crowded beaches, packed beach clubs, and very high prices, but I know some islands change completely once the main season ends.

For those who’ve visited Mykonos in the shoulder months or off-season, what was it actually like? Did the island feel calmer and more enjoyable, or too quiet and limited? I’m especially interested in how much is still open: restaurants, beaches, transportation, and boat trips.

How different does Mykonos Town feel when it’s not overflowing with visitors? And does the island’s character come through more once the party scene tones down? I heard it could be boring, but I guess it would depend on what we want.

Family-Friendly Foods to Try in Mykonos?

We’re considering adding Mykonos to our upcoming Greece trip and I’m curious about the food scene — especially when it comes to local dishes that are family-friendly. I know Mykonos has a reputation for high-end dining and nightlife, but we’ll be traveling with kids, so we’re hoping to experience some of the island’s traditional flavors in a more low-key, welcoming way.

Are there specific Mykonian or Cycladic dishes we should look for that tend to go over well with children? Maybe a favorite cheese, pie, or dessert that’s a local specialty but still kid-approved?

Snorkeling in Mykonos Tips?

I’m thinking about visiting Mykonos next summer, likely in mid-July, and while I know the island is famous for its nightlife, that’s not really my scene. I’m more interested in outdoor activities, and snorkeling is high on my list.

Has anyone here gone snorkeling in Mykonos? Are there particular beaches or coves that are especially good for clear water and interesting marine life? I’ve read that some of the quieter beaches might have better conditions than the busy party spots, but I’m not sure which ones are worth prioritizing.

Do most people rent gear on the island, or is it better to bring your own mask and fins? Also, are there guided snorkeling tours that combine boat trips to less accessible areas?

Best Mykonos Sunset Spots?

I’m starting to plan a trip to Mykonos and one of the things I’d really love to experience is a beautiful sunset, but ideally somewhere beyond the most crowded, obvious spots. I know places like Little Venice are famous for sunsets, but I’m wondering if there are quieter locations that still offer amazing views.

Are there beaches, viewpoints, or even small chapels or hillsides where you’ve watched the sunset that felt special? I’d especially love places that feel a bit more relaxed or off the beaten path, even if they require a short walk or drive to get there.

If you’ve been to Mykonos, where did you have your favorite sunset moment? Was it planned, or something you discovered by accident? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best viewpoints in Mykonos?

I’m in the early stages of planning a possible trip to Mykonos and have started researching the best viewpoints on the island. I know about the classic sunset spot near the windmills and Little Venice, but I’m wondering what other viewpoints are worth seeking out, especially ones that aren’t completely packed with crowds.

Are there any higher lookouts, coastal cliffs, quiet hills, or hidden spots where you can really take in the sea and the whitewashed buildings from above? I’d love both sunrise and sunset recommendations, whether they’re easy to reach or require a bit of walking or driving.

Also curious if any viewpoints are near beaches, chapels, or small tavernas where you can linger and enjoy the view longer.

If you’ve been to Mykonos, what viewpoint left the strongest impression on you?
