I’m planning a trip to Santorini and am looking for recommendations on where to stay. I’ve heard a lot about how busy Oia and Fira can get, especially during peak season, so I’d love to find a quieter spot where I can really relax.

I don’t need to be right by the famous caldera views, though a nice view would still be a bonus. I’m more interested in peaceful surroundings, fewer crowds, and maybe a charming village vibe.

Has anyone stayed in places like Pyrgos, Megalochori, or somewhere else that might fit the bill? Any specific accommodations you’d recommend?

I’d really appreciate any tips or advice from those who’ve been to Santorini. Thanks so much!

If you’re looking for a quieter, more peaceful experience in Santorini, Pyrgos and Megalochori are fantastic choices! Pyrgos is a charming, traditional village with stunning panoramic views of the island, especially at sunset. It has a relaxed vibe, lovely cobblestone streets, and a mix of boutique hotels and local guesthouses. Look into Voreina Gallery Suites for a unique stay with beautiful views and exceptional service.

Megalochori, on the other hand, offers a romantic, village-like atmosphere with narrow alleys, traditional taverns, and an authentic feel. Check out Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort, which combines Cycladic charm with top-notch amenities.

Both villages are less crowded than Oia and Fira but still close enough to explore the caldera and other attractions.

I stayed in Akrotiri last year, and it was perfect for a quiet getaway. It’s way less crowded, the caldera views are just as stunning, and there are some nice tavernas around. If you’re looking for peace but still want access to Fira and Oia, renting a car is a good idea. When I was searching for places, I also checked out canberra accommodation for another trip I was planning.

Must-See Things to See or Do in Santorini?

I’m heading to Santorini for three days on my next trip, and I want to make the most of my time there! Since it's a short visit, I’d love recommendations on the absolute must-see sights and experiences that I shouldn’t miss.

Of course, I plan to catch at least one famous Oia sunset, but beyond that, I’m torn between exploring villages like Pyrgos or Megalochori, hiking from Fira to Oia, or doing a caldera boat tour to the volcano and hot springs. Are these worth it, or would you prioritize something else?

I also love good food and wine, so if you have restaurant recommendations for authentic Greek meals or a winery with an amazing view, I’m all ears!

Basically, if you had only three days, what would be your top experiences? Any hidden gems or tips for making the most of my time? Looking forward to your suggestions!

Can I Rent a Car on Santorini?

I’m planning a trip to Santorini, and I’ve heard mixed opinions about renting a car on the island. I’d love to know if it’s a good idea to rent a car there, or if it’s better to rely on public transportation or taxis.

I’m especially curious about how easy it is to drive on the island. Are the roads safe and well-marked? Are there areas where parking is particularly difficult, like in Oia or Fira?

Honestly, I had heard that getting a rental car on Santorini could be tricky because of the rules on the island? Is this even an option?

Staying in Oia or Fira in Santorini?

I’m planning a trip to Santorini for the summer of 2025 and need some advice on where to stay. I’ve heard a lot about Oia and Fira, but I can’t decide between the two. Oia looks absolutely stunning with those famous sunsets, but Fira seems to have more going on with shops, restaurants, and nightlife.

For those of you who have been, which would you recommend for a first-time visitor? Or is there another place on the island that’s even better to stay? I’m looking for a spot with great views, but also somewhere that isn’t too hard to get around from. I don’t mind a bit of hustle and bustle, but I’d also like some time to relax.

Any tips or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Alternatives to Oia for Sunset

Hey everyone! Last time I was in Oia, I could barely see the sunset – it was so packed with people! This time, I’m hoping to find a quieter spot to soak in the view without the huge crowds.
I’ve heard Imerovigli might be a good alternative with great caldera views – has anyone watched the sunset from there? Or maybe Firostefani? I’d love recommendations for beautiful, more relaxed spots where I can actually see the sunset.

I’m looking for that iconic Santorini vibe but with fewer people around. Even a nice bar or café with a great view would be perfect! If you’ve found any hidden gems or favorite places to catch the sunset, I’d be grateful for the tips. I want to enjoy the magic of Santorini’s sunset without feeling overwhelmed.

Santorini All Set for Summer?

I’ve been thinking about a summer trip to Santorini, but I’ve heard about the earthquake activity on the island. From what I’ve read, it seems like the situation is under control now, and things are stable—but I wanted to check in with folks who are either there or more in the loop.

Has anyone been to Santorini recently or heard any updates from locals or travel experts? Are businesses open and preparing for the usual summer rush? I know the island depends heavily on tourism, so I imagine they’re working hard to get everything ready.
