As you know from my last post, I’m considering a trip to Corfu and I’d love some advice from fellow photography enthusiasts, especially on where to get the best sunset shots!

I’m super into landscape and seascape photography, and I’d like to capture golden-hour views with minimal crowds. Which spots on Corfu give you the most dramatic skies, beautiful silhouettes, or interesting foregrounds? I’ve read about the Old Fortress in Corfu Town, but are there others, clifftops, beaches, hilltops, or lighthouses—that really stand out? I’m also curious about seasonal light differences in autumn: does the angle or color of the sunset change things up compared to summer?

Any tips on timing, access (like whether you need to hike or drive), and the vibe at these locations would be hugely helpful. I’d like to build a shortlist of photo-worthy spots before booking. Thanks in advance—can’t wait to hopefully chase sunsets in Corfu this October!

Corfu is great for sunset photography, especially in October when the skies get that soft golden-pink glow and the island is quieter. Aside from the Old Fortress (great for cityscape silhouettes), here are some top spots:

1. Loggas Beach (Peroulades): Clifftop views, dramatic drop into the sea, and a west-facing angle perfect for fiery sunsets. There’s a famous bar there, but you can walk a bit away to avoid crowds.

2. Cape Drastis: Just north of Loggas. Rugged limestone formations and turquoise water make for striking contrasts—sunsets here are phenomenal.

3. Kaiser's Throne (Pelekas): Panoramic hilltop view inland and toward the coast. Very accessible by car, and stunning in autumn light.

I snapped a bunch of Corfu sunset pics last summer and ended up loading them onto a digital picture frame. It’s been awesome seeing them rotate through in my living room—makes me feel like I’m back there every day. Let me know if you want tips on keeping the photo colors close to how they looked in person; some slight editing helped mine look more vivid on the screen.

Corfu beaches locals actually go to?

I’m starting to think seriously about a trip to Corfu, and I’d love some local insight before I get too deep into planning.

When I travel, I’m much more drawn to places that feel lived-in rather than curated for visitors. I’m not really looking for beach clubs, rows of umbrellas, or spots chosen mainly because they photograph well. What I love most are beaches where locals actually spend time, like places you might stop at after work, go with family on a Sunday, or return to year after year without much fuss.

Are there beaches in Corfu that still feel like that? Maybe quieter coves, less obvious stretches of sand, or spots that don’t show up on every “top ten” list? I’m happy to trade amenities for atmosphere. I’d really appreciate hearing which beaches locals gravitate toward.

What made you fall in love with Corfu?

Those of you who have been to Corfu, I am curious. What made you fall in love with it? My wife and I are thinking of going. We love the Greek culture and Greece and have never been. I've been experimenting cooking Greek food. We love to go out for Greek food!

Goal is to do a food tour of Greece, but Corfu really catches our eye as a great destination. I would love to hear what you think of it. We want to experience the culture! We have at least 3 nights to spend there before we move on to somewhere else in Greece.

How expensive is Corfu?

I’m starting to look into Corfu for a possible trip and was curious how it compares cost-wise to other Greek islands. I’ve been hearing a lot lately about places like Santorini and Mykonos getting pretty expensive, especially in peak season, so I’m wondering if Corfu falls into that same category or if it’s a bit more reasonable.

From what I can tell so far, it seems like there might be a range depending on where you stay and when you go, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually been. Are accommodations and meals fairly affordable, or does it add up quickly?

How many days do you really need in Corfu?

I’m thinking about planning a trip to Corfu sometime next year, but I’m still in the early stages of gathering information. For those of you who’ve been — how many days do you think you really need to experience the island properly?

I’ve read that Corfu has a mix of stunning beaches, charming mountain villages, and plenty of history in Corfu Town, but I’m not sure how much time it actually takes to see a good variety without feeling rushed.

Would 3–4 days be enough for a solid overview, or do you recommend a full week (or longer) to relax and explore different parts of the island?

I’m not looking for a super packed itinerary, just a nice balance of sightseeing, food, and downtime. What worked best for you?

Liston Promenade - What to See?

I’m planning some time in Corfu Town and keep seeing the Liston Promenade mentioned as a must-see spot. I understand it’s one of the most well-known areas, but I’m trying to get a better sense of what to actually look for while I’m there.

Is it more about the atmosphere and architecture, or are there specific landmarks, cafés, or details that stand out? I’ve seen photos of the arcades and the open square nearby, but I don’t want to just pass through without really appreciating it.

Would you recommend going at a certain time of day to get the full experience? And are there any spots along the promenade that are easy to miss but worth noticing?
