These are the top beaches near Thessaloniki in my opinion!! Epanomi is my favorite beach, its super family friendly. Its an organized beach so you don't have to worry about bringing your own stuff. This is something that I struggle with because I don't usually rent a car when Im staying in Thessaloniki.

1. Epanomi
2. Agia Triada
3. Perea Beach
4. Asprovalta

Thank you for sharing this list! How do you get around while in Thessaloniki? Taxi? It seems like a pretty accessible city, and that one wouldn't necessarily need to rent a car.

These are the top three beaches in Thessaloniki

If you ask me, I personally don't love going to the beach near the city. I find that the beaches aren't the best, but if you're touring the city and interested in going for a quick swim, these are your best options. The video does a great job of showing exactly what the beaches are like! Websites will show you photoshopped pictures that are edited to show the clearest waters and cleanest beaches. That's why I like to go to YouTube to see the reality of what I'm signing up for.

What are the best day trips from Thessaloniki?

I’ve been wanting to visit Thessaloniki for a while now, but of course I can’t visit a city without hitting the beach right after! Are there any good day trips from the island that people recommend?

You should check out a PAOK soccer game at Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki

Toumba Stadium is where the PAOK Football Club plays all of its games! Soccer games in Greece are very exciting and full of energy. I would argue that they're probably some of the most passionate soccer fans in the entire world. Of course, if they're playing a rival team I recommend exercising caution. Sometimes the fans can get pretty rowdy and fights can break out. It's definitely a great place to go if you're in the city! :)

What it is like living in Thessaloniki for a month

I love seeing experiences like this, so I thought it would be good to share. This couple has been living in Thessaloniki for one month, so they have a pretty good perspective on what it would be like for foreigners. Ever since covid, there have been more and more digital nomads and people working abroad for months at a time. If you're interested in the experience, I suggest you ask some questions on this forum as well to get advice from people who go to Greece often.

Guided tour in an historic church of Thessaloniki for free!

A few (even Thessalonians...) are familiar with one of the most historic parishes of the city, the church of St Athanasius the Great (87 Egnatias str.). Guided tours are offered every Wednesday at 10:30 and 11:00 am (FOR FREE)! You can see details in the announcements hung outside the church. It's a unique opportunity to learn about Orthodox art and spirituality, as well as the history of the city, while listening to heavenly Byzantine music recordings. Although the facade may not look so attractive, the interior is stunning! You visit not only the nave, but also the north chapel, as well as the gallery. Looking for a different experience in an historic and not over-crowded landmark? That's your place!
