Many people don't know that there is more than on acropolis!! This one is Rhodes has historical roots from the Ancient Greeks, Byzantines, Knights of Saint John, Turkish, and more. Some parts of the archaeological site are from as early as 300 B.C. when it was an important Doric temple. Now, it is one of the most famous archaeological sites on the island!!

The history on Rhodes is pretty rich! This looks like a great place to visit, but I imagine the climb to be easier said than done. You'd need the right shoes. I am an experienced hiker, and I've had a lot of mishaps in Greece because of bad footwear. So, I bought a pair of hiking sandals which solved the problem nicely!

Euronet are continuing to install their ATMs

This American company have installed thousands of ATMs in Greece.I saw a new one today 22 February has been installed @ Afandou opposite a taverna & near a bus stop.
Their rate of exchange is pits & their withdrawl fee is high.So best avoided.

Visiting the Lindos Acropolis

In my research about the island of Rhodes, I have spent a lot of time learning about the Knights of Saint John and their influence on the island. Then I realized that there's an ancient history here, too.

Has anyone visited the Lindos Acropolis? Do you think I should take a tour or can I learn about it on my own?

I plan to visit next September - do I need to book things in advance? From what I understand the island gets pretty hot, so I was hoping some of the heat would mitigated in September.

Recommend a good beach near Rhodes Town?

I am trying to plan my latest trip to Greece. To be honest, I don't like to plan too heavily, but I do like to know where I am staying and have a general idea of things to do. Whether or not I do them once I arrive is another story, but at least I have options.

There are a lot of beaches near Rhodes Town. Do you guys have a favorite? Some options I found:

  • Elli Beach
  • Kato Petres Beach
  • Sachtouri Beach
I am just basing this list on what I found on the Internet. I have no attachment. I love beaches that have services close or as part of the beach. Like a toilet, maybe a restaurant or cafe.

Palace of Grand Masters being converted

work to start soon to convert it into cafe / restaurant .

Welcome to Pefkos, Rhodes

Pefkos is an absolutely amazing destination to go to on the island! It has a great beach and wonderful restaurants and coffee shops in the area. The beach is not overcrowded and I personally think its a great place to go with family and kids. There aren't too many organized activities on the beach but it is great for swimming. Here is a great areal view of the beach.
