I am gathering information about Corfu and am intrigued by the Liston Promenade. Not sure if I am going to Corfu yet, but I am curious. I've heard it's a must-visit spot, but I'd love to gather more detailed information from those who have been there or are familiar with the area.
  1. Historical Significance: Can anyone provide some background on the history of the Liston Promenade? I've read that it has a unique architectural style influenced by French design, but I'd like to know more about its historical context and importance.
  2. Things to Do: What activities do you recommend while visiting the Liston Promenade? Are there specific cafes, restaurants, or shops that are a must-visit? Any recommendations for local delicacies to try?
  3. Best Time to Visit: Is there an optimal time of day or year to visit the Liston Promenade to avoid crowds or experience it at its best? I’d love to capture some great photos and enjoy a leisurely stroll without too much hustle and bustle.
  4. Nearby Attractions: Are there any other notable attractions or landmarks near the Liston Promenade that I should include in my itinerary? I'd like to make the most of my visit and explore the surrounding area as well.
  5. Personal Experiences: Lastly, if anyone has personal stories or experiences from their visit to the Liston Promenade, I'd love to hear them! What made your visit special, and what tips would you give to someone visiting for the first time?
Thank you!

I haven't been, but I found some information. I don't know if this helps! The info:

The Liston Promenade in Corfu is a charming and iconic walkway in the heart of Corfu Town. Built during the French occupation in the early 19th century, its elegant arcades and architecture were inspired by the Rue de Rivoli in Paris. Lined with cafes and restaurants, it offers a perfect spot for people-watching and enjoying a coffee.

The promenade borders the picturesque Spianada Square, the largest square in Greece. With its vibrant atmosphere, historical significance, and beautiful setting, the Liston Promenade is a must-visit, capturing the essence of Corfu’s blend of Venetian, French, and Greek influences.

Best Beaches for Sunbathing on Corfu

I'm planning a trip to Corfu soon and I’m on the lookout for the best beaches for sunbathing that offer a relaxing atmosphere. I’d love to hear your recommendations!

I'm particularly interested in beaches that:
  • Are less crowded
  • Have clear, calm waters
  • Provide a serene environment to unwind
Any tips on hidden gems or must-visit spots would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.

Top Archaeological Sites in Corfu?

I know Corfu has a unique blend of influences, from the ancient Greeks and Romans to the Venetians, and I’d love to visit some great places.

Could anyone recommend the must-see archaeological sites or historical locations in Corfu? I’ve heard a bit about the Old Fortress in Corfu Town and the Temple of Artemis, but I’m sure there are other gems that shouldn’t be missed. Also, are there any smaller, lesser-known sites off the beaten path that are worth visiting for someone who loves history? Thanks so much!

Nightlife Advice for Corfu

I'm curious about the nightlife scene on Corfu. I've heard it's a beautiful place with plenty of daytime activities, but I'm wondering if there's also a good selection of bars, clubs, or evening entertainment to enjoy after dark. Are there any specific areas or towns on Corfu known for having lively nightlife? I'm particularly interested in places where locals and tourists mix, and where I can experience authentic Greek vibes as well as some modern options.

Any recommendations for must-visit spots or tips on the best time to go out would be really helpful. I'm also open to suggestions for more laid-back evening activities, like live music or beach bars, or something like that. I am getting a feel for the vibe.

Visiting the Castles on Corfu

I’m planning a trip to Corfu and am particularly excited about exploring the island’s castles and fortresses. I’ve heard there are some incredible historical sites like the Old Fortress and the New Fortress in Corfu Town, but I’d love to hear more about them and any other castles that are worth visiting.

Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to explore these sites? Are there guided tours that provide a lot of historical context, or is it better to explore on your own? I’m also curious about any hidden spots or lesser-known castles around the island that I shouldn’t miss. Thank you!

Paleokastritsa, summer 2025

Hi everyone

I have just joined this site to see if I can get some Corfu travel tips or maybe even meet some other people heading to Corfu next summer.
I am 53, from Derby, England, and I've decided to have a month's RnR in Paleokastritsa.
I'd be really keen to hear from anyone with any tips or insight into the area, life in Corfu, how I might be able to meet people and things to see and do. I'm thinking of hiring a moped to get around, do lots of reading, relaxing, hiking, eating and (a bit of) drinking! Most of all, reflecting and enjoying the environment - and the sunshine! I need to take some time to indulge in this.

What is Paleokastritsa like? From all of my research, it seems to be a good mix of quiet and lively (ie. not party town but also not completely dead). Are there restuarants there which aren't too expensive? Are there any good, chill out bars which stay open late? Also, are there ways to meet other travellers out there or is there anyone on here heading to Corfu next summer who'd be interested in connecting beforehand? It'd be really cool to build a little online community, if there was anyone in a similar position, even if they're going to a different part of the island.

Anyway, that's why I joined this site - to meet any others but also to find out about Corfu and paleokasistra. I'd love to hear from any of you!
All the best,
Neil
